Here’s my haul from the Exeter #postcard fair, another great morning at this super little event.

@rosegrayston Just wish they’d make their minds up…is it ‘people who don’t ‘contribute’ (whatever that means)’ shouldn’t live in social housing? Or ‘people who contribute too much’ shouldn’t? Pick a lane lads…

Robert, you joined the Conservative Party in 1997 and remained there until January 2026, approximately 29 years. You were a Conservative MP for more than 11½ years and spent nearly five years as a minister, including at the Treasury.
During the Conservatives’ 14 years in government, the IFS records 15 new taxes or levies, alongside frozen personal tax thresholds, VAT rising from 17.5% to 20%, corporation tax rising from 19% to 25%, National Insurance increases, a frozen inheritance tax threshold and insurance premium tax more than doubling.
The Parliament beginning in 2019 was the biggest tax-raising Parliament in modern British history.
There were tax cuts too, and every proposal should be judged on its merits. However, accusing others of “reaching for other people’s money” while presenting yourself as detached from that record requires a remarkable degree of political amnesia.

Andy Burnham has spent 20 years reaching for other people’s money. Reform UK will fight against Labour’s incoming tax assault.

Only a partial mystery for today’s #Postcard challenge. Despite the postmark and the location of the photographer trying to throw us off the scent the sender states we are actually in Penmaenmawr. The rustic gatepost and rising ground make sense but can we find it?

It actually means let the police and the CPS do their jobs, help them if you have information otherwise shut up
This is not a Netfix drama
In a normal society we would be appalled by the way Ann Widdecombe died and applaud the fact an arrest has been made so quickly
An arrest

“Don’t speculate!” means “shut up and accept the establishment narrative!”.

Why are women murdered by men constantly reduced to ‘sweethearts’ whilst the murderers are described as things like ‘maths graduates’
She was a graduate too. Her worth is not measured by her connection to the sick fuck who killed her.
Do better @DailyMirror !! 😡

@Alison_Inman @Kathryn11Baird Same here, my dad pretended it was for our benefit!

On a school trip to London in the 1960s, one of the excursions was to Heathrow Airport. In the 1970s, my boyfriend would sometimes take me to Liverpool or Manchester airport.
Ewan Gibbs@ewangibbs
Did anyone else ever get taken to the airport as a day out? I can remember my mum took me and my brother and sister just to see the planes when we were not ourselves flying. This was pre-9/11 and flying was less common.

An MP messages: “Each MP is afforded personal security at their advice surgery and constituency engagements should they wish.
“We’re also able to make use of physical security measures at our homes and offices - including cameras, door strengthening devices, and alarm systems.
“And we’re able to carry personal alarms with us, which are provided by Parliament, and can be activated to alert a call centre - and the police - should we find ourselves in a dangerous situation.”

Real fury in Speaker Lindsay Hoyle's office tonight at Zia Yusuf's incendiary claim that parliament, the government and the police do not care about Reform MPs' safety. huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/commons-…

This is a few years old now but it was a very good initiative, and I would very much like to see the @attorneygeneral reissue/update it.

Another bad week for women in Britain is there any other now? a mother & her daughters murdered according to the BBC 'was a nice man who loved his family'. Rape Gang survivors asking the public for support because their torturers & rapists have been released early from jail. An elderly conservative woman politician murdered in her own home a leading political broadcaster describes her as 'old maid & 'virgin' & a #bekind Transwoman hopes she was handcuffed to her bed & tortured. All of this is male violence, the women are diverse the men are same they hate women.
