@KislayParashar1 @TechPowerUp For professional work, Nvidia (Cuda) is a must but for gamers it's honestly a toss up. In my life I have owned 3 Nvidia cards and 1 AMD one, that one AMD card had more issues than the 3 Nvidia cards combined, spec sheets are one thing but trust is another.

@TechPowerUp 94% is massive dominance. Curious whether this gap is mostly software ecosystem, CUDA optimization, or supply scale. Hardware matters, but developer tools and stability often end up deciding which platform people stick with.

@theCGchannel @maxonredshift Their marketing for Redshift RT looked pretty much identical to this 5 years ago. Then it came out and it didnt work and crashed every time you toggled it. Then a year later it was finally semi usable but it was awful. Redshift sucks… we need Cycles plugins

This has never been the point. The main point is: The reason why ray tracing is not standard for most gamers is because it is compute expensive. It seems you can’t even grasp the main point and always moving the goal post. Who cares if in the future it becomes standard, would it be good? Of course. But you literally never read the main point, the guy said ray tracing becomes standard for gamer which is currently it is not. If only you can read. Holy shit. Wanting to win so hard to the point changing the topic “buh buh what about the future”. When we aren’t talking about the future. Please go learn how to read

🚨 Everyone is hating on Nvidia's DLSS 5. I think they're all wrong. > DLSS 1 got destroyed.. It became the standard. > RTX got clowned.. It became the standard. > Ray tracing got mocked.. It became the standard. Every time Nvidia ships something new, gamers riot. Every time, two years later, they can't live without it.. 8,000 people liked a reply saying "this looks horrifically bad." The same people will pre-order the GPU that runs it.. Nvidia didn't become a $3 trillion company by listening to reply guys... They became one by being right before everyone else was ready. Hate it now. Beg for it later. That's the Nvidia cycle.

@accelerate27 @TukiFromKL Where do you think real time graphics should go? I think perusing faster, more efficient ray tracing makes perfect sense. unless you have some magic rasterization solution, aiming for raytracing is a reasonable direction.

You know what you type does not contest any of my points right. This is just going around my points. Singing praise of how good looking ray tracing does not even challenge the main point of why gamers dislike it: very high compute cost. Idk man, if your reply does not contest any of the point being debated I think you are either trolling or retarded in which I will just ignore.

@accelerate27 @TukiFromKL Ray tracing is the only real step for games, it’s battle tested technology since the 70s, real time path traced visuals was never going to be easy that’s why innovations like dlss and now neural rendering exist. Will they succeed? who knows.

What you mentioned are not ray tracing. Compared to those, ray tracing compute cost is on different magnitude. I think I am talking to someone who does not play video game or you just have 5090 and calls using ray tracing as if the most basic thing to do. Either way you talk big with zero knowledge.

@Abel36939839 @hard8_times AI generating video is extremely slow, on a 3090 using a model like wan 2.2 it can take upwards of 5 minutes to render a 10 second clip… that model was released last year, them getting to the point of real time rendering is massive.

This is pure retardation. Film isn’t game. cgi in cutscenes are cutscenes. Most gamers prefer playing less latency/higher fps that is high from raster not from framegen. because the input lag of framegen is as slow as it is before it gets multiplied by framegen. you can argue they have some tech to reduce input lag with framegen. but if the initial framerate post ray tracing is dogshit. no matter how much you multiply the frame with frame gen and add their tech, it is still dogshit input lag.

@Jake110619 @mohbii @TukiFromKL This is actually impossible. there isn’t some magic bullet for this. Unless they do something crazy like add user input into the AI inference pipeline, generating frames will always come with an input latency penalty.

@Abel36939839 @hard8_times I never said they did, neural rendering is clearly trying to do more than that, the path tracing that games do is a long way away from film grade cgi, this gap needs to be filled by something, AI seems like a reasonable solution. V1 of anything is always rough.

@matiasgoldberg Game studios can just train loras on each character, i have some limited experience training loras and it doesn’t take that much time. nvidia shipping a large base model with the driver and devs shipping LoRAs in their game seems reasonable to me.

This is why I say that without LoRAs, the tech will have serious issues. A LoRA is what allows the character to stay consistent. Otherwise the "make it look real" filter keeps changing between generic blondes.

@Roddrivedeath @kelskiYT if nvidia listened to people like you they would have - abandoned dlss at version 1. - removed rt cores and tensor cores in the 3000 series. - rehash the gtx 1080ti for the 5th time. all tech has a starting point neural rendering was impossible just a year ago.

@Abel36939839 @hard8_times wait until you hear what the dl in dlss means. one of the biggest criticisms of dlss 1.0 and fsr 1.0 were that they changed the art direction of games but those things improved, this isn’t the endpoint for neural rendering it’s the starting point.

This is an impressive feat of technology. Sure. But it also looks like AI slop in its current form. Eventually, I'm sure it will get better, but all we can judge is what we see right now and what they chose to promote it with...

@beagewill @gleb_alexandrov why are people so emotionally invested into this? The same can be said about someone putting a reshade onto a game. More options are good, neural rendering needs a starting point just like dlss 1.0 had.

I've just got reminded, in the comments, about the word intentionality. Intentionality in lighting, contrast (including local contrast), view transform and art direction as such is almost given away completely.

@Jake110619 @mohbii @TukiFromKL this will never happen, im not anti dlss but frame interpolation will always have a latency penalty. more fps = lower latency (generally), thats why it feels better, frame gen just makes it look smoother but feel worse.
