And people with asthma and diabetes aren’t even fully disqualified those are waiverable and there’s programs in training to help people with those conditions in fact if you go to sick call in training they’ll literally give you an inhaler and give a profile to help manage both ….it isn’t the 1980s anymore a lot of things are waiverable as long as the person can do their job

Its why diabetics, people who are asthmatic and others are disqualified. Its harder to get special medicine to the FLOT

@LiberalHivemind Solid disagree on this one. He brandished the firearm to de-escalate, never pointed it, and died while removing himself from the situation with his back turned. Is he a good person, no, probably not, but was this justified, nope.

@MinuteofZombie Completely missing the point. Soldiers will adjust to adjusted standards. If Ranger School cut 5 minutes off the required 5 mile time, people would just train to the new 5 mile time. You are looking at it too linear and failing to take into account the human aspect

What the armed forces never denied in practice but politicians deny for cultural reasons is that combat fitness standards were not derived by scientifically calculating how fast or strong or enduring you have to be to survive the battlefield. They have ALWAYS been calculated by looking at population distributions and selecting a value that gives you the force size you want. So if a 6:00 mile yields only 5% of recruits and the average Ranger indoc class size is 200 and you want about 10 guys per class to graduate because of the force size you want, you choose the standard to be a 6:00 mile. That’s literally how they do it. Has nothing to do with “what it takes to survive”.

Cuz expectation-wise (I understand not lately- his back seems like its fucked) he is our best hitter, which is why I’d rather try to provide him with RBI chances to start the game rather than guaranteeing that no one is on base for him.
