@gorilla_rape Why did the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor? Because America economically strangled them. Why did Hitler start WW2? Because Europe was economically strangling them as punishment for WW1 Everything has cause and effect.

@kaeruZangyo @TheBaconFather It's "hawaii's star" in that it would be the last position in the field as if you were "reading" the field in english (left to right, top to bottom) and Hawaii is the most recent state. It's not any sort of official meaning or universial interpretation though

@roadkill326 @hallocopen_gr You actually dont need to be a permanent resident. Non-resident aliens can buy guns in the US with a valid US hunting license or a letter from their embassy. Weird situation for the embassy one and broadly speaking rarely applicable.

@hallocopen_gr Us citizen or permanent resident. You then have to fill out paperwork for a background check. Some states have a waiting period, other don't. My state doesn't so it can just take 10-20 minutes for the background check to complete and you're out the door with your firearm.

This question is for those living in the United States. How can I buy a handgun in the United States? In Japan, only toy guns are available. You can buy inexpensive toy guns at discount stores. You can buy slightly more expensive ones at specialty toy gun stores. Since they are toys, no special qualifications are required to purchase them.🤔

@Hound_7 I enjoy how each of the schools entirely embodies a national stereotype both in and out of matches. Also hey tankery looks like a super fun sport so I wish it was real lol.

I'm happy to find people overseas who like the anime "Girls und Panzer." The tanks in this work are depicted very attractively and are interesting. (Of course, there are exaggerations for entertainment purposes.) However, tanks from every country are depicted coolly and play an active role. Until then, in Japan, Japanese tanks had a very weak image and were sometimes ridiculed. For example, Sherman tanks were depicted as underpowered compared to German tanks, sometimes serving as a foil to German tanks. But in this work, they all play a cool and active role, which I like.

@ichimaru_novel For myself I just have guns laying around since there arent small children in my home. I pretty much always have a gun or two within arms reach any time I'm at home whether I'm at my desk, on the couch, in bed or wherever I am.

If Howa's Type 64 and Type 89 rifles were put up for sale in the US after the export ban was lifted, would there be a bidding war with stacks of cash going on at auction?

@Cpt_TAKAHASHI We would be all over these. Unfortunately to be eligible for US import the receivers would have to be torch cut into 3 pieces (this could be rewelded here) and the parts shipped as a kit because of how our dumb import laws work. If your type 20 got exported I'd easily pay $3500+

OK, since it appears that today is the day to discuss weird cultural differences between Japan and the USA, may I strongly recommend to all of my military history nerd followers that you watch “Girls und Panzer”? It’s anime from Japan. You can find it on Amazon Prime. Bear with me while I explain the insane premise. It’s about Japanese all-girls schools that engage in the sport of “tankery.” These schoolgirls ride around in historically accurate, WWII-era armored fighting vehicles and engage in active combat that appears to include actual HEAT and sabot rounds, except when there is a hit nobody gets hurt and a little white flag pops out of the dead tank. So there is this big tankery tournament. But here’s where it gets even weirder: each school has the vehicles, resources, tactics and uniforms of a WWII combatant. So the US-style school has wayyyyy more logistics than anybody else, the Soviet school goes roaring across the steppes (see the video one comment post below) and the German school has the best tanks that break down a lot. Also the British school takes war breaks to drink tea. Why would I recommend such a silly concept? Because whoever did it went to a fanatical level of detail on the vehicles themselves and the associated tactics and employment, as well as very accurate propaganda themes from the era. It’s so incongruous—highly accurate military history and Japanese schoolgirl anime. And I love incongruity in entertainment. It’s so silly, but in a weirdly addictive way. And I don't even watch anime.
