@harvey_rayner Why can’t we have a wallet that requires a fee to accept something ?

Is it possible to prohibit malicious and unwanted NFTs being airdropped into our wallets and thus polluting the environment in which our treasured Art collections live? If the answer is no - is this just a shitty user experience, we the crypto savvy, just accept as a tradeoff to owning a decentralized wallet? One problem, as I see it, is asking new Art Collecting entrants to accept this tradeoff without selling them on some very technical arguments, the likes of which many Art lovers won't care about. Collecting art for many is about carefully curating an identity. Attempting to do this in a convention that allows anyone to inject random detritus into that identity and thus misrepresenting us will be intolerable for many, especially those who care about beauty. What are the solutions that help to combat this?

Went to the Rockies game last night. It was good but I still don’t understand how baseball became America’s pastime. For such an active, adrenaline filled country, that sport is so boring.

Every time I clean up my finances for taxes I realize how much private investments suck. 1) Huge promises, very rare delivery 2) Go silent when things go south 3) Even the ones that do don't do thaaaaat well 4) So many just disappear 5) GPs think they deserve the world if they simply return your capital 6) QQQ and S&P 500 just go up quietly and you don't even have a fund-manager taking a victory lap

Is this actually a surprise? A salesperson might have to drink for their job, so they decide to drink, even if they know alcohol is bad for them Companies require a social presence, communicating with friends is much easier this way TLDR this is not a novel or useful insight
Bryan Johnson@bryan_johnson

Finished a seven day social media fast. It feels like the most effective longevity therapy I've done. Everything got better: mood, sleep, energy, presence, judgment, relationships, and optimism. Evidence shows a seven day fast produces a reduction of anxiety (16%), depression (25%) and insomnia (15%). The effects felt bigger. Conversely, dipping back in, I can viscerally feel that my body metabolizes social media similarly to a fast food meal, corrosive relationship, hangover, and sleep deprivation. My body hates it. After the previous fasts (40/hr and 70hr), I wrote that social media is pollution.  Not a vice or guilty pleasure. It’s closer to water toxins, air pollution and microplastics. This time, the major insight was that social media is a form of intoxication. Alcohol is honest intoxication. It clearly tells you what it's taking from you. Social media on the other hand does not disclose itself as an intoxicant. It produces the sensation of being informed, engaged, and connected while quietly evacuating your capacity for depth and independent thought. You don’t feel drunk, you feel current. But evidence shows that it causes your brain to shrink. The impairment is real by you can't feel it. Making it the more dangerous type. If you haven't tried it, I strongly encourage you to try a social media fast. Even if for one day.

@markgurman Apple finally realized they don't need to win the model war — they just need to own the distribution layer. Smartest play they've made in AI so far.

What have people's experiences been using Obsidian? I feel like it was all the rage a few weeks ago and my timeline was flooded with Obsidian x OpenClaw and other AI integrations, but I don't see that as much now Another fad, or are people getting real value out of it?

This Autoglyph just sold for 42 ETH (~$91k). The seller originally bought it 4 years ago for 375 ETH. That is a -$1.1M loss. Wow.

One “investor” just dumped 11 generative artworks in under 30 minutes. He originally bought them for 136 ETH and sold them for 55 ETH, a loss of roughly $440K. The sales included: → Fidenza #825 → Ringer #193 → Gazers #228 → Checks #4312 → 2 Decals → 5 Squiggles He still holds 2 Punks, 2 Meridians, 2 Anticyclones, Memory of Qilin, and a Square. If you value those pieces, this might be a good moment to place a bid.

AI can be used to skip critical thinking and outsource your judgment. Or it can be used to sharpen your thinking and test your assumptions. People who ask “gRoK iS tHiS tRuE?” chose the former.

Here’s a clear explanation of why Trump attacked Iran, and why I think the war will end soon. The war isn't about nuclear weapons. It's not about helping the Iranian people. It’s not about doing Israel’s bidding. And it's not about Iran being a threat to the U.S. It's about China. China imports 45-57% of its oil through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has the capacity to shut it down. A U.S.-aligned Iran means an Iran that would choke off that strait if there's ever a real power struggle between Washington and Beijing. And there already is one. The U.S. and China have been locked in a tariff war for over a year now. Also remember when China threatened export controls on rare earths, encompassing any company anywhere in the world that uses Chinese rare earths? Yes, China essentially said that any company that uses their rare earths (China refines 85-90% of the world’s supply) must seek their permission before exporting their products. This means if a German manufacturer uses rare earths fro China to create chips for American companies, China can block the export of these chips. That’s how much leverage China has over the U.S., and that’s dangerous, especially if China finally decides to reunify with Taiwan. So controlling the Strait of Hormuz becomes critical for the U.S. It's the same reason Trump wants China out of the Panama Canal. The same reason Venezuela matters. The same reason he's eyeing Greenland, where shipping routes to China pass through melting Arctic ice. Energy is everything now. The AI arms race is the most important strategic competition on the planet. Limiting China's access to energy is how the U.S. wins that race, and anyone who believes in freedom and democracy should want America to win. China is investing heavily in domestic energy, building nuclear reactors, solar farms, wind power. They're leapfrogging the rest of the world. But they still import the majority of their oil. And a significant chunk of it comes through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran was reportedly nearing a deal for supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles from China, which would make it easier for Iran to threaten shipping in the Strait and strike U.S. naval vessels. That accelerated the timeline. Trump's comment today about doing in Iran what he did in Venezuela makes perfect sense in this context. He wants influence over who comes next. A regime that's workable for Washington. If he succeeds, this would be a massive strategic win for the U.S. and for Trump.
