Breastfeeding for a baby is what hunting was for a man. He has to WORK for it. He starts by suckling for 30 to 90 seconds just to trigger your let down. Then he spends the next 10-20 minutes pulling milk out. It is one of the most coordinated things his tiny body will ever do. His jaw is compressing and releasing rhythmically. His tongue is creating a vacuum and pulling milk in a wave toward the back of his throat. His cheeks and lips are sealing around your areola so no air gets in. His throat is swallowing without choking. All while he keeps breathing in between. Babies generate up to 200 mmHg of suction pressure to get milk out. That is why they pass out at the breast. That little body just did the equivalent of a workout.

There are more unregistered Black voters in the state of Louisiana than the margin of victory in the 2023 gubernatorial election. That number was 272,302. Louisiana could have a Black governor if they wanted to, just by simply registering to vote and turning out. We can no longer look at voting as an option. Instead, it must be looked at as an obligation. The best weapon in a war of democracy is a vote. ✔️👆🏾
