Akira Toriyama is a mangaka who never liked naming the characters’ techniques in his stories. He himself mentioned that in a life or death battle, no one has time to shout out the name of every move you’d get defeated mid sentence. So it doesn’t really make sense to do it. However, he had to do it many times on his editor’s recommendation. That’s why, aside from the Kamehameha (which was his wife’s idea), Toriyama personally came up with every single technique name he drew in the manga, even though he didn’t like the idea.
