I respect @jasonlk for many reasons but no one has mastered the movement from SaaS to AI like Jason. The man was the master of SaaS wisdom for years, with the greatest SaaS founders all learning from him. Then, with thought and precision, he becomes a true AI founder using every tool and product to the limits (à la @Replit). Mastered the transition from SaaS to AI. Mega respect. 👏

We’re in a weird era for startups where perception has become the moat. Raise early, get labeled a “category leader,” and that perception attracts capital, customers, and talent until it’s no longer perception. The irony is many kings were crowned long before they’d earned it.

In the VC/ tech world, few are ridiculed as often as “the junior VCs.” And it’s mostly well deserved. Getting the power of the Roman Yes or No -- and a multi $B AUM tied to your identity -- in your 20s does strange things to the psyche. And the weaker the psyche, the more obnoxious the personality traits that emerge. But in a world of empathetically constipated Neros, Vincent Zhu was the Aurelius. Kind, thoughtful, incredibly sharp, and endlessly optimistic -- Vinnie exemplified the best of the industry. (Niko's mentee after all.) He was one of my first calls when I decided to shut down my first startup, and one of my first when I was thinking of starting the next. When I would send people his way -- either multi $M exited founders or day 0 ones with no traction or credibility -- they would always return feeling deeply heard and supported. If 99% of juniors left the industry, not much would change. Fewer dinners, less random panels, less platitudes and X slop, more work for the EAs. But Vincent will be missed — and I hope you return after Cursor's IPO. ;)

A personal update: I’ve joined @cursor_ai Excited to be working with a remarkable team who’s building a tool people genuinely love. Grateful to be part of this team and journey. Onward!

Caught up the other day with a founder that had an M&A offer that would have made him $130,000,000 in 2022 Today, they can’t raise another round and are a bit stuck Just a reminder how thin liquidity is in 99% of start-ups It’s there, and then, oftentimes, it’s gone

the old startup pen test playbook: go through a sales process, wait weeks, pay huge bills, get surface-level results or sacrifice speed for quality. we've worked with XBOW to change this: thorough pen tests from the world's #1 hacker that are done in a day and priced for startups. launching today! vanta.com/resources/secu…
XBOW@Xbow

XBOW is now the #1 hacker on HackerOne, globally. For the first time, our autonomous AI pentester tops the worldwide leaderboard. Next week at #BlackHat, we’re taking it live: We’ll run real-time on HackerOne programs—come see XBOW find vulnerabilities. 📍 Booth 3257

The developer vibe code wars (Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, GitHub, etc.) seem to be primarily technology wars The prosumer vibe code wars (Lovable, Replit, Bolt, etc) seem to be primarily marketing wars

In an obvious humblebrag, I'm proud to have taken the #6 spot on @BusinessInsider's Top 100 Seed Investors for 2025! I owe this to all the amazing founders I've had the fortune to work with - being an investor is difficult, but it is nowhere near as difficult as being a founder. Thank you to everyone and our wonderful AI founder community @GradientVC! Looking forward to another amazing year backing the best AI founders in the world!

Fun milestone + reminder of how fun it is to grow—we've added more in new ARR in January 2025 than we had in total ARR the last time we raised funding (from @HubSpot) two years ago. And there's still some days left.

Startups are built on big bets. Today, a bet we made 11 months ago to go "all in" on a CRM-centric approach to customer onboarding, comes full circle. We're stoked to announce an official partnership between HubSpot & Arrows, as well as an investment from HubSpot Ventures.

Woke up this morning and saw that Forbes put @Owner on the Next Billion-Dollar Startups list. It hit me hard. 🥹 I teared up, because this was a dream come true. I started Owner as a 17-year-old high school dropout. I didn’t know anyone in tech. But I watched the tech world closely. For 7 years, I’ve admired the companies on the Next Billion-Dollar Startups list. During all of the brutally hard times when we’d almost run out of money, or things would be going horribly wrong… I’d see this list and think: “One day.” That day has come. But it’s not because of me. It’s because of our amazing team. We’d be nothing without our great people. They deserve far more credit for where we are today. Owner has a really special team. I feel blessed to get to build with them every day. This is an exciting recognition, but it changes nothing. We’re staying hungry. We don’t take anything for granted. We work like the underdogs we are. We have to. Thousands of mom-and-pop business owners are counting on us. If you’re passionate about helping mom-and-pop business owners survive and succeed, we're hiring across 12 roles now. Check out our careers page.
