Simple. Just work weekends ;-). Kidding. I do feel like the hack that has worked well for me is getting warmed up on Sunday evenings!

often times on Mondays, I have zero attention span. there's something about not working full time over the weekend that tells my brain to slow down and it takes me most of Monday to get back "up to speed" anyone else have this? how do I fix it?

I repeat to my team and clients all the time that you shouldn't try to create a new pattern for something that has been solved for many times over
But that doesn't mean that you can't create something new even while following that established pattern
This panoramic background image effect inside of a carousel isn't a net new pattern in the sense that it's still a two-column section with text on the left and an image on the right
If you only saw this in a wireframe, you didn't have the context of how the visuals actually contribute to this and how the animation works and how it all builds together. Then it really would feel boring and empty
But even if you're following an established pattern like a two-column text and image layout like this and you take the time to explore the interactions and just push it a tiny bit further, you get something that people can enjoy.
All of my favorite things that I have designed come from just pushing a little bit further. Not trying to create something that's never been done before but iterating on things that already work well and thinking about how we can make them work better for the individual situation, like this website section.

@asmartbear Yes 1000%. Have often had this criticism. There’s not some inalienable way that certain business run.

@tjparker @StuartBlitz Agreed, but definitely where Oreo crumble excels

@StuartBlitz Makes more sense on soft serve. Dumb on regular ice cream.

@asmartbear Yes agreed but how do you feel about focus and sequencing? Need to sequence which channels to focus on, but always a risk you cede the opportunity if you come into a channel later, yeah?

If you say “ads don’t work,” you’re really saying that you’re ceding that growth channel to competitors who know what they’re doing.
You might say: “Yes, of course! I prefer SEO and Social and building attention over time. More fun, better customers.”
Good answer, but that’s different from saying “ads don’t work.”
Cross-apply to all other marketing channels.
