@ShaxNBA I hope Mikal can be a little more aggressive against it as the series goes on

@ShaxNBA My silver lining if he gets benched would be hoping that Brown runs more offense through him then, but even when other scoring options are off the floor it doesn’t feel like they rely on him much.

@ShaxNBA How do you feel about Brunson’s 12-minute shifts? I’ve never been a fan of them (or 12-minute shifts generally), but I think it could be harder to stagger his and KAT’s minutes otherwise.

That's a dub for the whole squad, everyone did something today. I'm not sure about this new rotation style, I think you need KAT to start 2nd and 4th quarters. But with Atlanta playing their big on KAT when he was at center, I do understand wanting to match with Brunson

@ShaxNBA Hard to make a switch right now too, considering there’s 6 regular season games left, Deuce isn’t fully back yet, and Shamet is still out.

These three games were tough, think the long lay off from playing high level comp is a thing, didn't look prepared to start on both ends My concern remains with this starting lineup, I think that's the biggest long term takeaway, this year atleast

@JLEdwardsIII If we win tomorrow and get a win in OKC with Deuce and Shamet back, that would arguably be the biggest regular-season win of the Randle/Brunson years.

@ShaxNBA I know the schedule has been light, but do you see any changes in his defense that would carry over to the playoffs, if he plays? I also believe he was benched around when they 'simplified' the defense, so I wonder if that will help now that he is back in the rotation.

@ShaxNBA I agree, but I fear we had one shot, one opportunity, to seize everything we ever wanted in one game, and we did not capture it. We let it slip.

That's still a good win, I do understand they got down and were sloppy, but cleaned up extremely well, and the offense hummed Little adversity doesn't hurt, makes things interesting

@ShaxNBA I am somewhat concerned that the next starting lineup, if there is one, will end up being Shamet in for Bridges. Brown seems more willing to make that switch in general.

We still feel good about this starting five against the most obvious counter of all time? Just checking, it's like clockwork man idk how else to explain this any further

@krispursiainen I would just start Shamet until Deuce returns and reconditions. That should make it fairly easy to pull off, since I think they do enough of the same things that switching their spots when Deuce is healthy doesn't really disrupt rotations/lineups.

Tough to pull off once he returns... But I do still believe that: JB/Deuce/Mikal/OG/KAT Jose/Landry/Josh/Mitch is the Knicks' best arrangement of their top-9. Not about Hart. McBride's defensive playstyle bridges the gap, no pun intended, between the Knicks' other starters
Kris Pursiainen@krispursiainen

Deuce McBride is one of the most underrated guys in the NBA. Several ntnl voices have called NYK "fully healthy" amid his injury. Not blaming anyone. But a refresher... - 12.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.8 apg - making 42.0% of 6.9 3pa - O-EPM of +1.7, 89th %ile in 28 mpg (35 games).

@ShaxNBA It seemed like most, if not all, of his minutes were paired with Mitch, when I would've thought he would play with KAT or be a small ball big with 4 guys who can shoot. Either way, I don't get having the non-shooter get all his minutes with the other non-shooter in the rotation.

@ShaxNBA @knicksrealist One of my aspirations is that they could emphasize pairing Mikal with our best POA defenders so he can help off-ball while still taking decent assignments, but we can ask more of him on offense as a ball handler/shot creator. I think freeing him up on D makes that a fair ask.

@knicksrealist This is what the New York Post wants to to believe and what Bondy wants to think. Bridges is just as important as any of those guys, no? This is a silly conversation we're having Shamet and McBride bring great stuff to the table, so does Bridges why are you ranking them wtf

Here's the story that's more important, Mikal Bridges is still a big part of this team, did that go away bc of one game Can we go one game without pinning shit on a player? The next game it will be Bridges
Stefan Bondy@SbondyNBA

Here’s the story that’s more important than the daily measure of KAT’s shot attempts: Mikal Bridges was acquired for five first round picks and Landry Shamet, who was signed on a nonguaranteed deal, has been the better player this season.

~Sochan I don't expect him in the rotation. But I watched some video today, he can be more viable as a small ball 5 than Yabu was IMO. Better length, versatility, better rebounder etc That's my favorite spot for him, maybe enabling more double big minutes if Brown wants that.
heyitsbeast@bmeast02

@ShaxNBA Do you think he'll only be used situtationally, or will they try to add him to the rotation? They seemed to really want him on the roster, and he seems to be the replacement for Yabu, who I thought was originally supposed to get minutes even when Mitch was playing.

@IanBegley Hopefully, everything went well for him! The playoffs start in about ten weeks. Ideally, it can be similar to Brunson's situation last year, where he got some games to condition.

@NBATradeReport I agree, a big trade feels more like a summer move. I’d like to see if they could manage a 3 for 2 where they get one reliable upgrade and can add another player who’s more of a gamble. I added an example, but it doesn’t have to be this.

@ShaxNBA Would setting more screens for him help? I feel like, with his ability/desire to shoot and drive paired with how matchups impact how he plays, it would help to give him more screens to get more open looks, have more desirable matchups, and get a step on defenders on drives.

He doesn't get post ups much anymore, that play-type for him is scarce compared to last season. 1.9 post ups this year vs 2.9 last year. And it feels even less when Brunson plays But Brown's alternatives and lineup decisions do leverage him IMO, but differently
Adam Attia@AdamAttia01

@ShaxNBA Do you think he is getting enough touches in the offense? Imo, his fga per game is probably near where it should be, but I don’t think k we are leveraging him enough

@SbondyNBA I'm guessing his minutes will be reduced with McBride returning, which would lower any risk of playing him. Hopefully, Brunson can see a reduction, too.
