Not even including property taxes, gas taxes, cell phone taxes and tolls: With a starting effective rate of 42.83%, $428,295 are taken out total for New Jerseyans. That figure can be broken down into $321,193 for federal taxes, $74,484 in state taxes and $32,618 going to FICA on average. This leaves filers with about $571,705 to take home. @VoteSalmon That is a good point, but the world was very different and less litigious then. The paper ballots used were also all cast on election day at designated polling locations, not mailed, messengered, etc.

@bmnlaw Interesting point but also not totally accurate... voting machines were rarely used until 1940 when they were mandated for some counties (and everywhere else shortly after). So for ~60 years, nearly all elections used paper ballots. The next ~70 years until 2009, you're correct.

I generally agree with @VoteSalmon here, but elections were primarily held on machines years ago. Paper ballots were the exception and have now become the rule, which makes recounts more complex and subject to protracted litigation. On machines, all you did was recheck the numbers and a handful of absentee and emergency ballots. SECRETARY RUBIO: Cuba’s economy doesn’t work. It has survived on subsidies from the Soviet Union and now from Venezuela. They don’t get subsidies anymore so they’re in a lot of trouble.

ADL opposed Joe Kent’s nomination to run NCTC because of his history of antisemitism and extremism. So it’s no surprise that he would blame Israel and the media for pushing the President into war against the Iranian regime. These accusations traffic in old-age antisemitic tropes. And, as we have seen over the past few weeks, they aren’t just slanderous — they’re potentially dangerous.
