@ClimateOfGavin The issue at hand is to what extent the "new things" we will learn by pushing towards the EVE vision (which is not just about resolution) need to be bigged up at the expense of the knowedge we have and still get at lower resolution. We need both.

@ClimateOfGavin But I am still comfortable that there is value in pushing in that direction, where I am uncomfortable is in the attempt to overstate the benefits of, say 1km, over, say 1000 member 10km models (for similar HPC expenditure).

@ClimateOfGavin Yes, and he made much of tipping points, despite the fact there is little chance of running enough years at 1km to target many (if any) of such phenomena. I think that was a talk not really targeting a climate science audience per se, but given it was not us, I was not sure who!

Those of you escaping to Post may need to consider which is the frying pan and which is the fire. Meanwhile all the BS about mastodon being difficult to use is just that. I’ve had more and better interaction on mastodon in a month than I had in the last year in twitter.

So this place is suspending journalist accounts, and blocking links to the other place. It’s apparently unsafe to link to the elephant site. The walls on this walled garden are shrinking, and the stench is growing. I have just about finished my great unfollowing here.
