🚨 Stephen Miller says the scale of welfare fraud is SO MASSIVE that eliminating it alone could balance the ENTIRE federal budget "The amount that has been fleeced from us is in the HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of dollars." "We could balance the federal budget if the only dollars that went out of the treasury went to individuals who were properly, lawfully, correctly eligible to receive them." This should infuriate EVERY taxpayer.

Things not going well for Congress's three leading Epstein conspiracy theorists. MTG quit. Massie primaried. Khanna's omnipresence not turning him into the nationally-recognisable 2028 contender he may have hoped to be by now.
Ro Khanna@RoKhanna

My good friend @RepThomasMassie lost tonight. He lost because he had the guts to stand up to the Epstein class and against the war. He won voters under 45 by 30 points. Tonight, I say to this voters who feel rejected by Trump. We welcome you. Join our coalition to take on a rotten system and stand for the working class over the Epstein class. We will build a movement to stand for Team America.

@benjimadness If you pick a band and ask me if it's classic rock, it's usually unambiguous. Indie rock? Much less precise.

I find this discourse perplexing because the solution seems straigthforward: make university marks almost entirely dependent on lengthy in-person exams that combine handwritten essays with oral questioning. Why is this even a conversation? Are there implementation barriers or something?

🚨 University professors have been saying AI is completely destroying learning and that we'll soon have an AI-powered, semi-illiterate workforce. Here's a glimpse into the educational apocalypse: "Sarah, a freshman at Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, said she first used ChatGPT to cheat during the spring semester of her final year of high school. (...) After getting acquainted with the chatbot, Sarah used it for all her classes: Indigenous studies, law, English, and a “hippie farming class” called Green Industries. “My grades were amazing,” she said. “It changed my life.” Sarah continued to use AI when she started college this past fall. Why wouldn’t she? Rarely did she sit in class and not see other students’ laptops open to ChatGPT. Toward the end of the semester, she began to think she might be dependent on the website. She already considered herself addicted to TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and Reddit, where she writes under the username maybeimnotsmart. “I spend so much time on TikTok,” she said. “Hours and hours, until my eyes start hurting, which makes it hard to plan and do my schoolwork. With ChatGPT, I can write an essay in two hours that normally takes 12.” - "By November, Williams estimated that at least half of his students were using AI to write their papers. Attempts at accountability were pointless. Williams had no faith in AI detectors, and the professor teaching the class instructed him not to fail individual papers, even the clearly AI-smoothed ones. “Every time I brought it up with the professor, I got the sense he was underestimating the power of ChatGPT, and the departmental stance was, ‘Well, it’s a slippery slope, and we can’t really prove they’re using AI,’” Williams said. “I was told to grade based on what the essay would’ve gotten if it were a ‘true attempt at a paper.’ So I was grading people on their ability to use ChatGPT.” - AI in education is a serious topic, and many schools and universities are blindly jumping into the "AI-first" wave without considering short and long-term consequences. It would be great to hear more from teachers and educators to understand potential solutions. This might be a great opportunity for rethinking the education system and how students are assessed. - 👉 Link to the full article below. 👉 To learn more about AI's legal and ethical challenges, join my newsletter's 94,700+ subscribers (link below).

@WolfgangSingh I dont think its specific love for India so much as Sikhs grew up in a culture (Indian basically) that is conservative, and hierarchical. Most Sikhs, like most people in many places, don't actually want to rock, or be seen to rock the boat.

Majority Sikhs are so nationalist that even after getting their holiest place attacked by Tanks and facing a genocidal atrocity across the nation, they still say no to Separatism. This is how much they love India. They blame themselves, which some can say is stockholm syndrome.

@Y2K_mindset People pointing out the folk revival. The more important point is there is now no "counterculture" as there is no mass culture. So punk loses some vitality. Wanna have blue hair and live in a van? Go ahead no one cares.

@FranziaMom That would drive me nuts. I wouldn’t want to be in a band in which people don’t know their chords up and down the neck.

@itslinklauren No one in music today is very culturally significant due to the fragmentation of the business. You can get a billion streams of a song and still easily find people who have never heard it or even know the artist. We left the mono-culture in the early 2000's.

I’m not a Taylor Swift hater, but when you hear these classic songs you question whether or not her discography will stand the test of time. She’s very commercially successful and has broken records. But I don’t think her music will have the same cultural impact as legends like ABBA, Michael Jackson and others who we still listen to 50 years later.

This song is timeless. Probably one of the most iconic melodies in music history.

@dbessner Yup. I think trumps approach to Iran was basically "get in so we can get out" i.e. solve the iran problem and hand over the policing of the region to Israel/ gcc

I really think the Middle East represents a vital disinterest to the US because remaining regionally hegemonic there commits the nation to a fossil-fuel future that will cause far more harm than good

I’m going to make a very controversial statement about hitting: 99.9% of #MLB hitters a born, not made. You are either born with the ability to be a major league hitter or you’re not. I firmly believe that.
