@DubCityCouncil The protection ends at the most dangerous point - the junction. No separation with the bus stop either. Need to get the designs safer and more consistent.

@EamonRyan @SEAI_ie This is great, but would you consider an interest free loan scheme for for upgrades rather than grants? Grants only make it cheaper for those with access to capital - generally richer people. Plus a tax incentive scheme for landlords to help renters?

Exchequer investment of €8bn to 2030 will create thousands of quality jobs. Last year we spent €101 million on @SEAI_ie supported retrofit. The budget for this year is €244m and a record allocation of €337m is in place for 2023.

Home energy upgrades are a key tool to reduce energy bills, address energy poverty, improve energy security & decrease emissions. I gave an update of our 30 year national retrofit plan at the Irish Retrofit conference today. We’re delivering 🧵👇👇 gov.ie/en/publication…

The more people that choose to walk, bike and take public transit to get around, the better cities work for everyone, including drivers. Anyone still claiming this is a “war on the car” doesn’t understand how cities work. HT @fietsprofessor for graphic.

@FlySWISS why do you not give rebooking options online when you cancel and change someone’s flight? Why does your contact centre not answer the phone? Why does it say to DM you on Twitter on your website when no one replies? Terrible service

That @RTENewsAtOne interview with @NormaFoleyTD1 would make you want to delete twitter They gave 90,000 antigen tests to schools and only 3% came back positive. PCR tests show 2% positivity Positivity today in the wider population is *20%* Schools issue overblown, again...

@NoelRock They should be free at point of use. People would pay for them through their taxes and the government would use its ability to buy in bulk to pass on savings to tax payers. They should be free for the exact same reasons a PCR test or a vaccine is free.

Interesting point made by CMO at briefing with opposition. He makes the point that while NPHET has information for hours with no leaks - within minutes of Government getting information - we have leaks. It was a deeply cynical leak & a shameful disregard for those who lost jobs.

@LeoVaradkar Contact tracing will be very important for next wave. Yet when you go into a restaurant/gym etc you hand write your contact info. Completely non-scalable solution. Such a failure that we don’t have a contact tracing app that’s used/works. Manual contact tracing can’t keep up.

420 in hospital today. Down 40% from peak a few weeks ago. We were winning the fight against Delta. Now Omicron is coming when we are at our most vulnerable - winter, Christmas, flu season. It’s a cruel virus.

Why we need to have *test-to-stay* programs for school. Your child MIGHT have been exposed? Keep at home straight for 10-14+ days? NO. Thats harmful. Test each AM for 7 days. Each day Neg -> Go to school Quarantines are information problems. Rapid test solve this issue.

I got a minor breakthrough infection and my kids, who were asymptomatic and tested negative the whole time, will be out of school for three weeks by the time it's all over. It's madness.

@RiochtConor2 @LeoVaradkar Had a bizarre surreal dream last night where the gov spent a couple million on a consultancy firm to build a contact tracing app, but when you went to a restaurant you had to hand write your name and number on a piece of paper. It was wild.

@gavreilly Would love to see some quick coordinated European action. There should probably be some help for SA, including vaccines. Other countries might think twice about reporting new variants if all they get for the trouble is a travel ban.

@gavreilly The tests are clearly very cheap wholesale now. Would make so much more sense to make them free than to subsidise expensive pharmacy prices.

@SeanDefoe They need to be challenged on this sort of thing. We’re testing at less than half the rate per person as the uk.
