@RichCimini I like the draft but we have to move on from the traditional value chart, it's 2026

@goaliegm13 @ettingermentum Ok but she has a credible electoral record, having connections could help with that but the premise of the post is "electability sells" but the Democrats who pull off the most impressive wins (Whitmer, Shapiro, Klobuchar, etc) generally aren't well-liked by the left

@bocnj1 @ettingermentum bc eliCIA slotkkkin is literally a goddamn CIA agent and one of the clearest industry plants we've ever seen. When Chuck Schumer is calling them the future of the party you know it's cooked lmao

@EmmettStinson Can Xue's profile compared to number of reviews has stuck out to me this year as I read her books - not a single one has even 700 ratings

As a point of comparison, Gerald Murnane’s most popular book on Goodreads (The Plains) has 2900 reviews. Goodreads reviews are also a pretty good proxy for relative book sales (or at least were a few years ago).

It’s reissued and in-print with one of the most highly regarded presses in the world (New Directions), was reviewed by the New Yorker in 2015, and has 4000 Goodreads reviews. Seems well-loved tbh!

You know what book is fucking brilliant that doesn't get enough love: Oreo by Fran Ross. I enjoy the tomes and I have vague plans to build a reading lectern for Bottom's Dream with all that lumber I sourced taking down the fence in anger, but Oreo by Fran Ross is dazzling.

@BengalYouTube Silly argument when you can just compare location data between the two sports and see how it's totally public in the MLB and completely shielded by the NFL

@willmenaker As someone born in NYC who this doesn't apply to anyway, why are people acting like which teams a transplant to a city roots for carries some moral meaning?

@MZuccherbe96144 @Frenchlet1 I respect his effort, I just think treating activism as a way to cancel out other wrongs grossly benefits the privileged - anybody can say that America deserved 9/11, he's able to move his image beyond that because he's rich

@bocnj1 @Frenchlet1 honestly i meant moreso that he actually does activism (far beyond this) and in general at least tries to do good work, which i respect. with that said i dont feel too strongly about him regardless

@MZuccherbe96144 @Frenchlet1 Is the rule here that you don't care for rich people unless they give to charity? Because there's a lot of rich people that do that

@riccoja @MattZeitlin They’re obviously unpopular here but there is a reason McKinsey is successful lol, they do at least a few things very well

@MattZeitlin compared to other cities no doubt, compared to the private sector on the other hand…like there’s a reason they’re relying on McKinsey in the first place

I don’t think you can close New York City’s budget gaps by zeroing out McKinsey, feels similar to right wingers thinking the federal budget deficit is all due to waste, fraud, and abuse

@ZackBlatt Worth remembering the Jets passing offense had the same efficiency with Mike White as it did with Zach Wilson (idk what Connor was talking about on the show)

Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco, Trevor Siemian and Josh Johnson have all found homes in free agency. Teams clearly liked what they saw from the 2021-2023 era Jets QB rooms. #FreeMikeWhite

@LegoKingo imo it's fair to be at least a bit suspicious of how the show handles it after they played McKay reporting the troubled teen in S1 as something she would have to struggle with compared to Robby refusing to call services about it

I think in Dr. Robby's case it is sharp and very intentional. Interestingly, the biggest example of the show's unintentional sexism (that old guy hitting on McKay in a "charming" way) was largely unremarked on by fans who think Robby is the moral center of season 2 (he isn't)
🐻‍❄️@despusssy

I really can't discern if the Pitt has written the most realistic portrayals of misogyny in the workplace on purpose or if they're completely oblivious to it and think the men they're writing are likeable

There is no next one. The time has passed on all of these directors besides maybe Linklater and Malick. Not indicative of the quality of their work, just a reflection of the Academy’s views
Reel Updates@worldofreel

Now that PTA has finally won his first directing Oscar, who is the next most overdue filmmaker? A few names come to mind: Quentin Tarantino Richard Linklater Terrence Malick David Fincher Michael Mann Spike Lee Todd Haynes Spike Lee Wes Anderson tinyurl.com/25verpz5

@PanasonicDX4500 The ping pong tournament and then final are my favorite thing from a Safdie film and they're very different from Uncut Gems, it's the stuff in between that's a runback

@ghostofkurta This would make sense but I also think history says that finding someone annoying hurts an Oscars campaign a lot more than finding someone else abusive

Trade: the Raiders are sending QB Geno Smith and a 2026 7th-round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2026 6th-round pick, per ESPN sources. Smith returns to the team for which he started his NFL career for in 2013.
