@shanselman It’s so obnoxious. But especially when being good at problem solving and deep thinking about the problem at hand makes these new tools so great to work with. Cheat code has always been to be good.

@stolinski Absolutely standing on his head. Insane game. Worth the fatigue I’ll feel later from getting up early to watch.

@bradwestfall Every large organization is going to have some part of its funds misappropriated and used badly. But this is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Almost literally as it will actually kill children.

Most of you learned about USAID because it was in the news last year. My wife (who works at a food safety consulting firm) contracts with USAID. Her co-workers were deployed to field hospitals at the time the USAID cuts happened. Ordered to come back. This is personal for us

@vyrotek I think it’s a skill that needs to be honed/practiced. Back in the day when I worked in customer service roles all the time, I was great at remembering names and details of customers. Now after 20 years of dev work, I can’t even remember the names of half the people I work with.
English

I am really bad with names.
REALLY BAD. Might be getting worse.
I will forever remember your face, avatar, clothes, situations, life facts, random posts, etc about you.
My memory is extremely visual. But I never remember names unless you interact with me regularly. I will often recall a name by remember seeing it somewhere. And visually replay interactions in my head to remember what someone said.
What neuroscrewedup category does this fall under?

@mattpocockuk I was already following, but I very much like the tips. Behind a corporate firewall and trying to get my team to embrace some newness circa last year and your tips are energizing me even if I can’t fully utilize them.

@vyrotek @JetBrainsRider Just canceled my JetBrains license. Was a tough call since I spend all day at work in IntelliJ, but VScode has been good enough for me recently. Was always impressed with Rider though. Wish I could go back to .NET

are we're thinking about web apps wrong?
many modern web app experiences are probably more similar to games today. we spend a lot of time and resources forcing high interactivity, animation, and motion into a document platform that was designed for digital "pages".
what's holding other approaches back? components? image if @shadcn had all his components available in a canvas/webgl engine form! (@rive_app / lottie?). and what if it was all powered by wasm which let you use any language you want?

after basically one week of seriously trying at game dev and about a month of fumbling in the dark, i can see why game devs are frustrated with the state of the browsers. how can i do all these calculations at 60 fps and yet gmail lags when i want to view an email??

@vyrotek Sometimes I think back to the start of my career using VB6 and think how much I miss it.

@bodiddlie @terminaldotshop this take was so garbage i think i got a brain aneurysm. have you ever worked on commercial software, like - at all?
English

People taking this seriously frighten me.
Nick Klepinger@bodiddlie
@terminaldotshop Variables imply mutation. All code should be pure and not vary.
English

@vyrotek I wear mine backwards at work a lot. I’ve been referred to as “Fred Durst” so take from that what you will.
English

@vyrotek I was not one of them and now I still have to go to work Monday. 😭
English

@thdxr Spare onesies anytime you go anywhere. Baby shit defies gravity.
