@D162Michele Nothing Michelle that’s fine. The issue is that China insists on spreading Communism which is repugnant around the world through plausibly deniable methods. No one appreciates that.

Guess what Bonnie I was on your side until 2023. I stayed quiet in 2024. But in 2025 the idea that the US can be Taiwan’s force guarantor against China became untenable. In 2026, it’s just a joke. I AM the emerging Taiwanese majority. I am why you are writing worried stories about Seeseepee propaganda leading Taiwanese sheep astray. Cheng Li-wun, Holger Chen, me…we are all ex-DPP. Then at some point we got with reality. More Taiwanese will follow.

@AngelicaOung Who is Bonnie Glaser and why does she have a seat at the table discussing matters of Chinese civilization? I have lived my whole life without needing to know of her existence and opinions, and neither does any other Chinese person.

@NobleQAli Bonnie is not white. She is Jewish. 🤷‍♂️ you maybe surprised by the disproportionately large number of Jews in China Watchers and think tank community. 🤷‍♂️

@sutherland_joe @NobleQAli The west is a deeply sick and troubled civilization precisely because of its people. Why do you think they never stopped committed its heinous crimes for the past 500 years and is still doing it to this very day?

@NobleQAli We’re all people and should strive to empathize with others. Obviously the West is a deeply sick and troubled civilization, but trying to empathize with others isn’t the problem—where she’s wrong she should be correct with argument not bigotry.

The most absurd part of this Reuters piece is that a Taiwanese person saying “I am Chinese” is treated not as history, ancestry, culture, or civilizational memory, but as if it must automatically be CCP manipulation. Reuters is not exposing propaganda here. It is helping normalize a colonial narrative in which Taiwan’s Chinese are expected to forget their own history, deny their own identity, and speak only in ways acceptable to separatist politics. That is the real propaganda. Every people on earth are allowed a national memory, an ethnic memory, and a historical identity. Only on the Taiwan question do Reuters and the DPP act as if Chinese identity itself is inherently suspicious unless filtered through anti-China politics. They wrote tens of thousands of words just to suggest that Taiwan’s Chinese are not really Chinese, and that any expression of Chinese identity must be classified as “information warfare.” In the end, this is just political laundering for colonial erasure.

I told @jamespomfret that China's information warfare against Taiwan “creates an environment in which China can more easily win support, because its strategy really is to lower morale, instill a sense of psychological despair, convince people they have no future in being autonomous and their best option is to join up with China” reuters.com/world/china/ch…

@AngelicaOung @jamespomfret You seem to want Taiwan to end up like Hong Kong. BTW, the US is more reliable than you think. It's all happening under the radar. You just don't see it.

Reports that China pressured global shipping giants like @Maersk and Mediterranean Shipping Company to withdraw from Panama Canal ports are deeply concerning. This is exactly the kind of coercive behavior Chairman @RepMoolenaar has warned about. He has made the U.S. position clear in the past, "China’s malign influence is unwelcome in the Western Hemisphere and it is critical that all ports on the Canal be entrusted to operators who share our common values and a commitment to continued cooperation with both the U.S. and Panama." reuters.com/world/china/ch…

The Japanese government announced to provide 1.6 trillion yen aids to Southeast Asian countries, which is an effort to counter China's influence in the region. But this is clearly a case of pretending to be something one is not. The reality is that Japan is itself struggling with a lack of natural resources, particularly oil, and a shortage of fiscal room. The yen continues to depreciate, and the living standards of ordinary Japanese have been declining. Under such circumstances, increasing foreign aid makes little sense. Unsurprisingly, this move has met with widespread opposition from the Japanese public. The decline of Japan's influence in Southeast Asia is ultimately a reflection of its diminishing national power. Japanese industries have lost their competitive edge. The country has no major players in the internet sector, no strength in AI, and no foothold in new energy. Its once-dominant auto industry is now rapidly losing market share to Chinese electric vehicles. On top of that, Japan's defense industries have been hit hard by China's rare earth restrictions. To think that Japan can compete with China through a bit of economic aid is pure fantasy.

This looks like something a hawkish Chinese person on the Mainland would make for his hawk friends to enjoy. If Xi Jinping was not in power, the CPC may not have had the stomache to let Taiwan step on it's red lines over and over. If Xi Jinping was not in power, the CPC may be more hawkish on Taiwan and not prefer peaceful reunification. Maybe sanctions rather than what Taiwan currently enjoys through ECFA. Taiwanese on the island are largely critical of anyone pushing for independence as well. We want a better economic outlook for the people who actually live and work in Taiwan. That path is peace and diplomacy with the Mainland. PRC and ROC already fought once, it is enough.
