This is a MASSIVE feature for EventBridge & Step Functions. Makes it super easy to integrate with Container or EC2 workloads — just setup your private API as a target. Fantastic work on this by the team!

Our latest launch for AWS Step Functions! You can now export Infrastructure as Code templates directly from Workflow Studio for CloudFormation and SAM. It also works with Infrastructure Composer. aws.amazon.com/about-aws/what…

Sad day at the Daly household today. Our 7 year old Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel mix, Poe, got his tests results back and it confirmed he has Lymphoma. 😢 He's been a part of our family since he was just a few months old and has been the "best boy" (as my wife would say) ever since. He's been an amazing companion and one of the sweetest, most gentle dogs I've ever known. We decided as a family not to do chemo (we thought it would be selfish of us), so we've started him on prednisone to make him comfortable for the time being. We're hoping to get a few more good weeks with him before we need to say our final goodbyes. 🐾

After five and a half happy years, today is my last day at AWS! I feel beyond lucky to have worked with such brilliant people, and to have learnt and grown from their input. I'll be joining @safetycli as a cofounder and CPO. More in the thread 🧵

Sad day on my farm - I've had raccoon attacks the past 3 nights taking my flock from 35 down to 2 chickens. I've repaired the run every day but they keep getting in. 😥

@timdoke @DRo_604 got it thank you - and if that's an additional step in your workflow is that acceptable?

What we do now is pass authentication information on the individual worker payload. We do not generate a token. The worker is a c# app that creates an http request based on that auth data with custom headers. So it’s sort of a pass through authentication. Not trying to get too far into the weeds here but what I saw on the connection was either basic auth that uses secrets manager but seems to allow custom headers, an api key or oath. All those seem fine if u are the source of truth for authentication. But, we are not. What I would envision is a transform step that takes the auth information and custom headers and then send that into the http endpoint task along with the body and http method somehow.

@timdoke @DRo_604 Thanks for the feedback. You need to provide a ConnectionArn, that handles authentication, as part of the HTTP Task. Alternative is passing in headers yourself, but you still need a Connection. Would you want to supply the tokens yourself or use a service like Cognito?

@DRo_604 It seems slightly difficult if you need to use dynamic custom authentication. Is there no simple option to just supply the url, all headers, the http method, and the body? It seems you can customize all of these except authentication and customized headers relatively simply.

I'm a big fan of event-driven architecture and using events for communication across organisational boundaries 💡 Yesterday we released EventBridge Stripe integrations and HTTP integrations with Step Functions ❤️ Super powerful patterns emerge! We can use events and orchestration to communicate between systems. Direct integrations into EventBridge allow us to focus on our business logic vs integration code between the systems. Then using Step Functions we can orchestrate logic to go back out to Stripe if we want (using the new HTTPS endpoints) Love it! 🚀
