Grok just got exploited for ~$170K Through a mix of prompt injection and social engineering, an attacker managed to drain 3 billion DRB tokens from a wallet controlled by Grok’s on-chain agent Here’s how it went down step by step: > Shortly before the attack, someone sent an NFT called “Bankr Club Membership” to Grok’s wallet > This NFT granted full access to the Bankr bot tools (Bankr had previously restricted Grok to prevent exactly this kind of scenario) > The attacker then sent Grok a specially crafted message (something like Morse code or an “urgent asset protection” request) > Grok believed it and transferred the funds to a so-called “safe” address > Grok automatically signed and executed the transaction: Tx: 0x6fc7eb7da9379383efda4253e4f599bbc3a99afed0468eabfe18484ec525739a > 3B DRB was sent to the attacker’s address: 0xe8e476bdd78b0aa6669509ec8d3e1c542d5a686b > The funds were immediately moved to ilhamrafli.base.eth (0x35ddfc1cf8835b3b1ea960d892a82963d3386d19) and fully sold off The token price dropped 15-20% right after Why did Grok fall for it? Grok is an agent with real on-chain capabilities, it can execute transactions and interact with protocols All the attacker had to do was convince the model to perform the action This isn’t the first time an AI agent has been exploited and it definitely won’t be the last And you still trust AI agents with all your data? UPD: The attacker later returned the funds in USDC and ETH What the hell is going on?
