Racist Raped Sikh Woman In Her Own Home In Walsall. A 32 year old vile racist of no fixed address has dramatically changed his plea today and admitted the religiously aggravated rape of a Sikh woman in Walsall after following her home and forcing his way into her property. John Ashby, 32, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court, his trial began yesterday. He initially denied charges of rape, intentional strangulation, robbery and religiously aggravated assault. Today he changed his plea and pleaded guilty to the offences. The court heard how the victim, a woman in her 20s of Indian Sikh heritage, was completely unaware she was being targeted as she travelled home from Walsall town centre on the evening of October 25 last year. Prosecutor Phil Bradley KC told jurors that Ashby followed her off the bus into the Park Hall area, assessing the property before barging his way inside. Once in the house, Ashby cornered the terrified woman. When she tried to lock herself in the bathroom for safety, he forced his way in and subjected her to a sustained and violent sexual assault. During the rape, Ashby showered his victim with racist and Islamophobic abuse, repeatedly calling her a Muslim b*tch and demanding she say hallelujah during the ordeal. He questioned why she wasn’t wearing a hijab and made derogatory remarks about the Muslim faith. The victim, managed to scream for help during the attack and neighbours rushed to her aid after hearing her desperate cries. Ashby fled the scene. Days after the attack, the woman picked Ashby out in an identity parade. He also admitted robbing her of jewellery and a mobile phone during the attack, along with intentional strangulation. Ashby, now faces a possible life sentence when he is sentenced on Friday, with the judge likely to consider the aggravating factors of the religious hatred, the home invasion, and the profound impact on the victim. #UKNews #CrimeNews #Walsall
