I’ve been known to sit in a car driving 14 hours. Stopping only for gas and a to hit the bathroom every 400 miles or so. I do say the EV self driving is worth the extra stops though. I’m gonna take some long trips and see how far I can go without all the mental strain of managing all the driving.

Sounds like road trips with you come with more pit stops than a Formula 1 race.🙄😑

@WilliamShatner You’re telling me you went non-stop 300 miles? I need to stop to pee on a trip of that length, perhaps acquire a snack. Fill up the car with electrons while you go in. Or, I guess be dehydrated and take the gas car to save 15 mins. I’ll drive the Tesla.

@DisinfoIsBad Bcs. it is better than fossil energy, does not make it the best option. Also, you're missing the point about storing the waste: for 70 years people have been debating where to put it, and everyone NIMBYs. Back in the 70s we didn't have the renewable tech we do now. We now 2/3

So called environmentalists have been saying this about nuclear power since the 70s, and they've doomed us to climate catastrophe over a potential future issue that has shown no evidence of materializing in 70 years of nuclear power.

@CSP_News If you're in the left lane in a 75mph zone going 10-15 over the speed limit already (which I would never do, Sir) passing cars on your right, and a driver comes up fast behind you, going waaaaay faster, we should still move even if it means slowing down for me, yes or no?

Maybe read your bill? The accepted forms of ID to vote under the SAVE Act: 1. Enhanced REAL ID: Only available in 5 states. Costs up to $50 (poll tax) and requires a birth certificate which 40M Americans lack access to. 2. Valid passport: 146M Americans do not have and costs at least $130 (poll tax). Trump gutted the agencies issuing them. 3. U.S. military ID card presented with military record of service. 4. Government-issued photo ID showing place of birth: 300M Americans do not have one, and costs up to $50 (poll tax). 5. Non-Enhanced REAL ID driver’s license, state ID, or tribal ID shown in conjunction with a birth certificate (40M lack access to) that matches your last name (which 69M women do not have due to marriage) and other forms of documentation, and which require a cost to obtain (poll tax). If this was truly a voter ID bill, it would provide every eligible voter in the U.S. a voter ID, and provide them at no cost to align with the 24th Amendment — so why doesn’t your bill do that if voter ID is so popular?

@borgbait @TheJoeySwoll Most of the bigger established content creators will get explicit permission off gyms to be able to film and in many cases will still need to follow some rules (eg when and where they can film, extra cost, etc) That's what I don't think many of the small creators understand.

Good luck. I’ve spent a lifetime trying to get people to change their mind and I’ve come to the conclusion that people will fight to the death rather than find out they were deceived. People willing to ban guns they have no knowledge of them. People that won’t read a SCOTUS ruling, but are sure of the answers.

@borgbait @ImMeme0 Exactly right. But we can't allow ourselves to become so untrustworthy that basic common sense is thrown out the window. We need, as the people, to be able to look at actual evidence, and stop muddying the water with crazy. That's the only way western civilization survives.

You can’t go 44 in a 35 and stay in the left lane because you “think” you are going “fast”. The average speed in this section is probably 50 to 52mph. Stay out of the left lane unless you are locally the fastest vehicle. Never should be passed driving in left lane. @Tesla_AI

@BradleyMeyers19 @ImMeme0 I think the issue is that that there are enough lies that people are stopping trusting anything. We all sense it and are reacting to it, but too many are still sure it’s only on the “other side.”

@alt_w_v_g 3 years of asking for the school to send math homework so we could help. Lots of promises zero help. The other day we got a math test home that had a grade on it, nothing checked wrong. We couldn’t even reproduce the score as it didn’t align with the number of questions.

Had a parent-teacher conference this morning My wife told me not to come I came anyway She said "please just listen and nod" I said "I always listen" She said "you listen like you're sitting in a boardroom looking for something to challenge" That's how listening works Nice classroom Small chairs I am 6'4" and was seated at a desk designed for someone who still believes in Santa Claus My knees touched my chest The teacher introduced herself Shared her identified pronouns I shared my identified adjectives Smart and handsome My wife closed her eyes The teacher had a folder Color-coded tabs I respected the organization She said our son is "a pleasure to have in class" My wife smiled I waited That sentence is never the whole report It's the executive summary before the risk section She said "however" There it is She said he "asks a lot of questions" I said "good" She said "during quiet time" I said "when is quiet time?" She said "it's when students are expected to work independently and in silence" I said "so he's the only one trying to get information and you've structured the environment to prevent it?" My wife put her hand on my arm I continued The teacher said he recently told another student that "sharing pencils doesn't make sense if nobody brings their own" I said "that's an accurate observation" My wife squeezed harder The teacher said she's concerned about his "resistance to group activities" I said "he's not resistant. He just doesn't see the value of doing more work for the same grade." The teacher said he also corrected her math on the whiteboard I said "was he right?" She paused She said "that's not the point" I said "it's a little bit the point" My wife stood up Sat back down Compromise The teacher pulled out an evaluation sheet Categories like "works well with others" and "follows directions" and "respects classroom norms" All subjective Not a number on the page I asked how these are graded She said "based on observation" I said "so one person's opinion with no second review?" She said "it's professional judgment" I said "my auditors say that too. Right before I disagree with them." She looked at my wife My wife said "I'm sorry about him" I said "I'm sitting right here" My wife said "I know" The teacher said overall he's a bright kid and she just wants to make sure he learns to "collaborate" I said "collaboration is important. But so is recognizing when you're the only one doing the work. He'll learn that again in college. And again in the real world. Might as well start now." Nobody spoke The teacher closed her folder She said "I think we've covered everything" I said "one more thing" She braced herself I said "his reading is above grade level. His math is strong. He asks hard questions and corrects mistakes when he sees them. I just want to make sure this school knows what it has." The teacher looked at me differently My wife looked at me differently I said "that's all" We left In the car my wife was quiet Then she said "he's turning into you" I said "is that a good thing?" She didn't answer From the backseat he said "dad, why does the teacher count off for asking questions? Isn't that the whole point of school?" I looked at my wife She looked out the window I said "yes. It is." He said "I don't think she likes when I'm right" I didn't say anything Neither did my wife Small chairs Color-coded tabs No follow-up items But the kid's going to be fine Sent from my iPhone

I have a really dumb question: Why can't we just have a flat tax rate for every person? And get rid of the stupid deductions, etc? Just have everyone pay the same rate in the U.S.? It would save us from so many damn problems. And all these idiotic arguments.

The reality of living in 3rd world shitholes: I've been a digital nomad for over 10 years. 60+ countries, every continent. The foreigner tax is real, and there's no way around it. The person in the quoted post complained they can't get a fixed price for anything. Everyone paying the same is a Western concept. In Thailand, I remember the price for street food was 30 baht (~$1). The sign said 30 baht, the people in front of my paid 30 baht. My price was 80 baht. Pointing to the sign above her with a single number (30 baht) doesn't help: you're a dirty foreigner and they'll charge you whatever they want. One of the questions I asked expats all over the world: do they always try to rip you off? Not a single expat said No. It doesn't matter if you've lived there for 20 years, married local, and speak the language. You're still a foreigner to be stolen from. Some countries learned if you treat foreigners well, it brings more foreigners (with their money). Thailand is the best example of this: far fewer scams than 15 years ago. But, still more than you might think. That reminds me of a fun story: the Lucky Buddha. Walking along in Bangkok, we're approached by a local. He speaks excellent English (warning sign for a scam), and says the national museum is closed today (it's not), so why not go see the Lucky Buddha? The local hails a tuk-tuk for you who will take you there for basically free. The Lucky Buddha is nothing more than a Buddhist temple, but there's a well-dressed man inside who strikes up a conversation. He's a jewel buyer for Tiffany / Cartier or whatever, and this is his last day in town to buy jewels at discount and don't you want to come see? We had long realized it was a scam so this is where we bailed out. We get back to the states, and my female talks to a friend who ALSO met a jewel buyer. "Yeah, I bought some jade and sapphires and they still haven't arrived..." Every ethnicity has a slur for foreigner. Gringo (yes this is a slur), gaijin (japan), farang (Thailand), thai balot (Vietnam), guiri (Spain), etc. Every taxi driver everywhere is lowlife scum who wants you dead. Literally the only places you can safely enter a taxi are in Dubai or Singapore. I've been scammed or held hostage by taxi drivers in a dozen+ countries. They'll drive you to a remote place and threaten to leave you there unless you pay them. Use the rideshare apps and/or do deals with your host to get around. My female and I will walk miles in the hot/cold with our backpacks if there's no Uber or equivalent. The taxi drivers we pass look pissed we don't want their help, but they'll scam us literally every single time. No thanks. The rules for locals and the rules for you are different. Dubai is quite open about this. In a court of law: Emirati > people with money > everyone else. I was in Hong Kong at a McDonald's standing in line (I didn't like the food in HK). A little Chinese mainlander grandma elbowed me in the ribs and started yelling at me. The HK McDonald's employee looked exasperated, but had me wait while he served her and others first. I broke some rule, I don't know what. Don't bother trying to look poor or fit in, you won't. A gypsie can spot a US person a mile away (it's the tennis shoes) and moves to pickpocket them. They'll pick you out by the hairstyle or even mannerisms. Just keep your guard up. When you're in public in these shitholes, you're a target. Some ethnicities only exist to lie, cheat, and steal. That's a horrible statement to write, but I assure you it's true. I don't need to tell you which ones. You'll figure it out. You'll be followed home by strange men. I remember in Venice an Eastern Euro followed us back to our Airbnb. It was obvious he was following us: 11pm, we were in a dead end alley with nothing around for several blocks. He was waiting for us to drop our guard. He pretended to be lost and turned around. This has happened many times, in many countries. They'll also hang around so see if you lock the doors when you leave. I could go on, but I won't. If the rest of the world hates me as a foreigner, why go there? Because the world is beautiful and has many wonderful people. I'm a target of racism every day. So what? You are too, probably. Suck it up and go live.
