🚨 BREAKING UEFA announced a major revamp of their national team competition system post-2028! Nations League to switch to 3 leagues of 18 teams! Qualifiers for major tournaments to be played in 2 separate tiers, each with 3 groups! Reality is most of all that organizer suits have gotten really good, the last time it probably genuinely mattered was the 2017 Giro when they genuinely cost Nairo Quintana the race

The Giro organizers decided to award the prestigious start number 1 to Kaden Groves instead of Jonas Vingegaard. You would think that, with Visma–Lease a Bike as the defending team and Vingegaard being the biggest name in the race, that start number would automatically go to them. Instead, the organizers apparently followed the alphabetical order of teams, which resulted in Groves receiving number 1 and Vingegaard races with number 171. #GirodItalia

My 5 unusual things to watch at Giro d’Italia 1. Will Vingegaard risk and try to win almost everything? Will he be the same as Tadej at Giro 2024? Will he make Visma chase in every mountain stage finish to win as many stages as possible or rather be in the safe mode, saving energy for the Tour and giving the stages for the breakaways? You have to also consider one thing. Sepp Kuss. He basically won everything and only one thing is missing. Giro stage win. Will he allow Kuss going to the breakaways? Of course, this thinking is about the situation most expected: that Jonas will have a big, safe lead in the pink jersey and already have one stage win.
