I am against the booing on ANZAC DAY. BUT "Welcome to Country" IS overdone and, in some cases overplayed. A simple WTC at an appropriate occasion is one thing. A lengthy, divisive, anti-colonialism speech is very inappropriate. Less DIVISION by race, more We ARE ALL AUSTRALIAN!!

I don't care what your view is about Welcome To Country / Acknowledgement. Booing at a Dawn Service is selfish stupidity. The focus should be our returned service personnel. The booers made it about themselves.

@ellensandell No non European persons allowed to enlisted in WW1 if you are speaking on behalf of a political group check your facts and ensure that when you are "truth telling" it has some semblance of history.

I was appalled at the booing of Elders during the Welcome to Country at ANZAC Day services in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. Not only did First Nations people serve in both World Wars, but we must acknowledge the impact of the Frontier Wars on Aboriginal people and communities.

What we all saw and heard yesterday at the ANZAC gathering was RACISM! The failure of leaders in both State and Federal Labor to not call it out, to name it, to say what it is, is racism and a failure of leadership in this time.

I am disgusted by the crowd at the Perth dawn service treating a First Nations speaker the way they did. First Nations Australians bled for this country in two World Wars.

Booing of Welcome to Country across Australia was obviously orchestrated. I saw a post during the week from Bec Freedom telling people to boo as loudly as they could. Surely inciting this type of disrespect for our Veterans at their sacred services should be a criminal offence.

Keep in mind that Indigenous people who served in WW1 were denied plots of land upon return and weren’t allowed inside RSL’s. The racism they faced after serving our country was disgusting. And people choose to do this. Fuck your Anzac Day.
