Marco Rubio argues that "Operation Epic Fury is concluded" as the objectives were acheved. In reality, Iran won this war. There was no regime chenge, no nuclear deal, no limits of ballistic missiles and drones, no decoupling of ties between Iran and its regional allies, and the Strait of Hormuz is now under Iran's control. US bases in the region have been destroyed, the US alliance system has been weakened, and the petro-dollar will not recover. This epic failure was not just another failed regime change war, this will severely weaken the position of the US in the Middle East. All that was achieved was the murder of many Iranians and keeping the Epstein files out of the media.

The White House is completely silent as BBC confirms a consistent pattern of massive financial spikes occurring just minutes before Donald Trump makes market moving announcements. The administration is facing severe allegations of illegally profiteering off inside knowledge.

What a picture! Israeli soldiers and settlers have prevented Palestinian children from going to school by blocking the routes with razor wire. So instead, the Palestinian children take out their school books and start studying right next to the masked Israeli soldiers.

The US and Israel's strategic defeat in the war with Iran, and Iran's strengthened geopolitical position, may give the Abraham Accords a new lease on life. The UAE, and perhaps other GCC states, may turn to Israel to balance against Iran since they either don't want to, or don't believe they can, reach a modus vivendi with Tehran. And because they understandably don't believe they can surely rely on the US any longer. But the Accords will now be completely naked. No more pretense about creating peace in the region. Or that it will help the Palestinians. Rather, it's true and original intent will be clear for all to see: An anti-Iran coalition that adds to the region's instability. Ironically, the Accords contributed to creating the circumstances that brought about the current war, and doubling down on the Accords will likely only make matters worse.

This meets the threshold for intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national group as set forth in 18 US Code § 1091 prohibiting the crime of genocide. If any Iranians are killed pursuant to this threat, President Trump will be guilty of genocide, as will those assisting him.

Greta Thunberg: “The President of the United States just said an entire civilization will die tonight, and never be brought back again, and no one is reacting. This speaks for itself. We have normalized genocide. We have normalized the annihilation of entire peoples. We have normalized the systematic destruction of the biosphere we all depend on. We have normalized corrupt, racist war criminals acting with total impunity. But it is not too late to say: STOP. If we don’t, we have no right to call ourselves human.”

Where are the human chains in DC? Where are Democrats leading marches? Where are the celebrities pretending to care about human rights in award shows? Where are the intellectuals? The scholars? The veterans? The churches? Where is ANY resistance to this? Even Nazi Germany had some internal resistance. This isn’t just Trump. This is the collective failure of a society.

I've taught European history for 30 years. Americans have always asked me how the Holocaust was possible, how Germans could have enabled a madman reveling in mass murder to carry out his plans. Now we can see in real time how this is enabled; now we have front-row seats.

Wow! Trump tells Fox News that the US "sent a lot of guns to the Iranian protesters, we sent guns through the Kurds, I think the Kurds kept them." Trump reportedly said the weapons were sent after the Iranian gov started killing protesters in large numbers. Not sure that makes a lot of sense since the Internet was completely shut down at the time, and the US had very limited insight into what was happening. I suspect he misspoke: The weapons were sent through Kurdish groups BEFORE the January 8-9 clampdown. Either way, this admission by Trump rewrites the history of these dark days. My suspicion is that the US and Israel had armed specific groups that infiltrated Iran but could not operate until large protests had erupted. When that happened - both organically and with the encouragement of Reza Pahlavi - these groups were activated and began using systematic violence against the state apparatus as well as civilian targets (banks, mosques etc). The vast majority of Iranian protesters had nothing to do with or even awareness of this US/Israeli armed group. They were protesting peacefully. But the Iranian government appears to have made little distinction between the two and killed armed and peaceful protesters alike on a large scale - probably around 7,000.

Trump's disgusting speech on Iran last night reminded me of what the anticolonial leader Aimé Césaire said: “The hour of the barbarian is at hand. The modern barbarian. The American hour. Violence, excess, waste, mercantilism, bluff, conformism, stupidity, vulgarity, disorder.”

If Iran can keep the Strait of Hormuz closed and “hold Washington to ransom,” it will have significant leverage, says Alfred McCoy, professor of history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. “In a strategic analysis, Iran right now is in the dominant position.” democracynow.org/2026/3/23/mcco…

Belgium’s MEP Marc Botenga exposes Europe’s hypocrisy: “You sanction Russia, which attacks Ukraine — but you support the United States when it bombs Iran. You condemn Russia, which occupies Ukraine — but you support Israel occupying Palestine and Lebanon. We blame our opponents for what we allow our allies to do — cheerfully — while smiling at Tel Aviv and Washington. The double standard of this Europe is not only a shame — it creates a world of chaos and wars, a world in which we do not want to live, and in which we do not want our children to grow up. Today, this Europe is not a force for good, but an accomplice to crime. That’s enough.”

US put military cordon in international waters on Venezuela to overthrow its government; is currently interdicting fuel shipments to Cuba in international waters and has been sanctioning Russian trade for years. So by what moral principle can US object to Iran threatening "global commerce" in Strait of Hormuz? Pot, meet kettle.
Brett McGurk@brett_mcgurk

Iran today threatened the Bab al-Mandeb (10 percent of seaborne trade). Predictable and not new. Iran spent years building a missile and drone proxy force in Yemen able to threaten global commerce—and fired anti-ship missiles at US Navy vessels in ‘23 and ‘24. Hormuz & Mandeb ⬇️

Energy industry insider in Iran tells me the following, and it is STUNNING: Before the war, Iran produced just shy of 1.1mn barrels of oil per day, and sold it at $65 per barrel minus $18 discount (i.e. $47) Today, it produces 1.5mn barrels a day, and sells it at $110 with only $2-4 discount. And this does not include petrochemical sales that not only have increased, but are now being sold to a larger set of customers compared to before the war. Moreover, Iran is receiving payments through new mechanisms that bypass the UAE, which were set up after the June war. In essence, and this is really important to understand, Trump and Israel's war has ended up delivering Iran de facto sanctions relief. This means that Iran is all the less incentivized to end the war, unless the agreement provides Iran with formal sanctions relief.
