Republicans may try to lower the Senate vote threshold on an authorization for the use of military force by falsely claiming hostilities have ended in the ongoing war on Iran, then zeroing the clock for privileged consideration when Trump resumes bombing. semafor.com/article/05/04/…

Keep an eye on this. Democrat foreign policy for 2028 to be led by Maher Bitar, a founder of Students for Justice in Palestine. A Palestinian himself, he worked under Biden’s NSC but President Trump revoked his security clearance. This is where the Dems are heading.

Scoop: Nat Sec Action—the foreign policy hub for the left co-founded by Jake Sullivan and Ben Rhodes—is rebooting ahead of the 2028 Dem primary with a new director, and more. Nat Sec Action became a key source for staffing the Biden admin. axios.com/2026/05/03/dem…

Israel's mass slaughter in Gaza, enabled by the US, was a moral outrage. And now, as the @nytimes reports, Israel is applying the Gaza model in Lebanon -- and once again we Americans are enabling this moral catastrophe. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

The Pentagon and State Department have shown a total lack of transparency in revealing the damage done to U.S. facilities by Iran. These are facilities that Americans pay for, but we don't get to know what has happened to them so that Trump can claim some victory that no one believes he is winning who doesn't live in a Fox bubble.
CNN International PR@cnnipr

New CNN Investigation: At least 16 American military sites have been damaged in Iranian strikes, making up the majority of US positions in the Middle East. From CNN's @tamaraqiblawi and the Investigations team.

It feels insane to have to keep repeating this: The 2007 NIE assessed that Iran ended nuclear weapons-related work in 2003. That assessment has not changed. The claim that this war was necessary to prevent an Iranian nuke is just complete bullshit.
Haley Britzky@halbritz

Hegseth says today Iran "had not given up" their nuclear ambitions after Operation Midnight Hammer last year. Last June, he said Iran's nuclear ambitions "have been obliterated." war.gov/News/Transcrip… In July, Pentagon spox Sean Parnell also said the operation led to "the total obliteration of Iran's nuclear ambitions." war.gov/News/Transcrip…

Trump and Republicans may try to pass a bill to fund the costly and unpopular war on Iran using procedural tricks, because they know it’d be hard to pass one via usual means. All Democratic lawmakers should back @USProgressives member Val Hoyle’s effort to block such an attempt.
Representative Val Hoyle@RepValHoyle

I just introduced the No WAR Act, which prevents Congress from fast tracking war funding through a backdoor budget process. If Congress is going to spend money to put American troops in harm’s way for another foreign war for oil, then the American people deserve more than a process engineered to avoid real debate.

61% of Americans say the Iran war is a "mistake," per new WaPo-ABC poll. In Iraq, it took more than 3 years to reach that high. In Vietnam, it took 6 years.

@mdubowitz Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium surged in response to Trump breaking the JCPOA, which had limited it to a nominal size. Blaming it on Biden is like saying the fire department is to blame for a raging fire rather than the arsonist who set it and left. Dishonest and moronic.

This week, I spoke up during a markup of the Appropriations Committee’s foreign affairs funding bill. The American people have been crystal clear—they want us to reexamine how we provide aid to foreign countries. This discussion needs to include the aid we provide to Israel.
