BREAKING: An OUTRAGEOUS ruling by a Republican-appointed judge in Virginia throws out the entire Democratic redistricting amendment and invalidates every vote from the April 21 special election! In a shocking decision that reeks of judicial favoritism, a judge in Tazewell County, where a statue of a confederate soldier looms over the courthouse, has declared the Democratic-backed maps “void from the start,” nullified all the votes cast last week, and permanently blocked the new congressional districts from ever taking effect. Attorney General Jay Jones immediately fired back, announcing that Democrats will appeal this ruling aggressively and take the fight all the way to the Virginia Supreme Court – and if necessary, the U.S. Supreme Court – to defend fair maps and stop this blatant power play. Republicans are cheering because they know their grip on power depends on crooked maps and friendly judges rather than actually winning votes. Democrats are not backing down. This is yet another example of the Republicans using every tool at their disposal including the courts to rig the system and cling to power. The voters spoke, loudly, and the Republicans overturned the Will of the People. The battle for fair elections continues, and Democrats will fight tooth and nail to protect democracy from these partisan sabotage attempts.
