Hey, it's been a while. I realised I hadn't actually posted anything on Jonathan Greenard. So, I went back and watched every pass rush from last year. Here are some thoughts... 1) It's always good when you see an opposing RB asked to help out in protection. That tells you what the Falcons think of Greenard. He's not your classic speed-to-power rusher, but more than good enough with outstanding arm length. His sack production wasn't great last year, but he had a ton of important pressures.

Flight delayed on tarmac. Missed our connection. Based on the other flights available, which were also delayed, and the fact that taking a flight tomorrow would require getting back into a security line stretching seemingly for miles, we decided to get a car and drive five hours to our destination. That’s how bad air travel is right now. Driving is faster. Air travel is awful in this country. People don’t realize just how much it sucks unless they have to do it a lot. It’s not just TSA. Flight delays. Air traffic control issues. Service is even worse than usual. Every airport is crowded and slow and worn down and dirty. Everyone brings their dogs. The term “service animal” doesn’t mean anything anymore. Air travel used to be luxurious. People used to wear suits. Working for an airline was prestigious. The employees took it seriously. It sucks now. It’s terrible. This is the kind of thing our leaders should be fixing. Because the most frustrating thing is that it is so eminently fixable. If only anyone bothered to try.

Howie Roseman has a reputation for attacking the team’s weaknesses every offseason, and the moves he’s made on offense so far suggest he believes two things about last year’s struggles: 1. The bigger issue was coaching, not the players. The offense still has 10 of 11 starters from last year under contract, with WR3 being the only change. Meanwhile, roughly half the offensive coaching staff was replaced, which says a lot about where the organization believes the problem was. 2. They’re betting on the offensive line getting healthy. Lane Johnson is still an All-Pro caliber player and missed more than half the season. Getting him back alone should make a huge difference. Add in Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens going to Columbia, and the hope is the unit returns to being one of the league’s best.
