It’s a distortion to claim the case of Nerdeen Kiswani, head of the hardline group Within Our Lifetime, was
“attempted murder” or an “assassination plot” when the public federal criminal complaint against Alexander Heifler charges only two counts:
1. Unlawful possession of destructive devices (Molotov cocktails)
2. Unlawful making of destructive devices
Media headlines calling it an “assassination attempt” or “plot to kill” go beyond what the current indictment/complaint actually charges. Moreover, any escalation to more serious counts would require a superseding indictment.
Due process means charging what can be proven, not inflating based on uncharged allegations.
Media engaging in wrongful accusations are not doing their jobs and are engaging in further hate rhetoric that unfortunately leads to these incidences.

A member of an offshoot of the Jewish Defense League — designated by the FBI as a "known violent extremist organization" — was allegedly building explosive devices to target the home of Nerdeen Kiswani in a chilling act of political violence. The defendant reportedly planned to flee to Israel following the attack. This comes amid an alarming rise in threats and violence across the country targeting Palestinian human rights advocates. I am thankful that the NYPD and FBI thwarted this plot, which could have endangered Nerdeen’s life and those of other New Yorkers. Let me be clear: We will not tolerate violent extremism in our city. No one should face violence for their political beliefs or their advocacy. I am relieved that Nerdeen is safe. Our city must meet hate with solidarity, and meet fear with an unshakable commitment to justice and to one another.

Let’s break down what Mamdani did yesterday.
Zohran Mamdani had to delete his first post yesterday which originally described someone “attempting to blow up” Nerdeen Kiswani’s house—pure anger-stoking rhetoric.
Then, he still deliberately chose to spell out “Jewish Defense League” (not just the commonly abbreviated term JDL, like his post about the ISIS-inspired terrorists).
He had to shove “Jewish” front and center at the top of the post.
He wrote about fighting against political violence while ignoring Kiswani’s repeated calls for “resistance by any means necessary.”
The “flee to Israel” detail? Completely unnecessary. Kiswani loved it, and retweeted it enthusiastically.
Deliberate fuel on the fire. He knows what he’s doing.
He’s pretending to speak against political violence while inciting it.

🚨 Latest Israeli intelligence assessment: regime change in Iran is now off the table, as the opposition is not organised and is successfully repressed, sources tell me.
Israeli targeting is therefore shifting from regime repression apparatus to its military capabilities. Looks like this thing will end with a deal after all.

Even if the politician is on my side—and I say this as an AOC supporter—there’s not much worse than inconsistency. It’s what makes people so cynical. If we’re going to adopt this “pro-Israel”/“pro-Palestine” naming convention, which I’m against across the board, be consistent.

An unknown man with unconfirmed ties to the JDL was charged by the DA with VANDALISM.
The NYT then laundered this falsehood on a Friday night so the Jewish community couldn’t respond.
