It appears that most everyone has moved on from the “oil well shut-ins” debate. Why? Because Iran is not going to need to shut-in, they have plenty of remaining storage, and it is clear that their oil infrastructure would not “explode” if they even did need to shut-in. One of THE primary reasons we imposed the blockade has proven to be nothing but a farce. It’s time to admit failure and shift strategies, or better yet, negotiate an end to the conflict. No more sunk-cost fallacy.

@BrettErickson28 Iran doesn't exist in vacuum. By keeping Strait closed, they are strangling economies of buyers like China, who isn’t going to sit back and watch its industrial growth tank to help Iran win game of chicken. The pressure on Iran from allies and enemies to open Strait is mounting!

Ok so then the Strait stays shut? If countries won’t pay the toll, or if Iran doesn’t get sanctions relief, the Strait will not open. If Iran doesn’t get heavily compensated, the Strait won’t open. Iran can survive far longer than the global economy can, and eventually Iran will be compensated to open the Strait.

@BrettErickson28 True global supply shock is a big inflation cost for ROW. But for Iran, it's a crisis! The global economy can tap strategic reserves, ration, and reroute supply chains. Iran can’t reroute its entire economy. They are running out of hard cash. Yes it’s that simple.

Shutting in /heavily choking wells that are losing pressure risks catastrophic water infiltration. Once water floods these low-pressure wells, the damage is permanent.

@BrettErickson28 Dude, You can’t fund an economy on a toll booth when you’ve scared away 90% of your customers. Furthermore, any permanent tolling system locks Iran into a multi-year, hot conflict with its consumers (China, India, and S. Korea), completely destroying their diplomatic leverage.

@brad_D6 Absolute worst case, Iran would receive FAR more from tolling the Strait, or from sanctions relief. Far, far in excess of their gas exports.

@BrettErickson28 measuring success of a blockade by whether a regime falls in 90 days is a strawman. Iran was facing massive inflation and a budgetary crisis before the war. Choking off hard currency forces them to burn through their remaining foreign reserves. It’s a war attrition. Takes time.

Lol Jeffries trimming $GLXY ‘s price target when the company is in a better spot than when the original price target of $53 came out. Make it make sense, I swear these people shouldn’t have jobs in this field. Not to mention both PT’s are too low.
