@AJA_Cortes Herniated my L4 2 years ago. Could barely move for 2 months. Hyperextensions saved me. Did them almost hourly at first for a few days. Then 3-4x per day. Improved significantly in the first week. Normal activity within 2 months. I use them as maintenance now proactively.

A few years ago I threw my back out swinging a tool that was wrong for the job. Was horrific. Had neglected a lot of the rehab stuff. Got one of these and use it often. Also thank goodness for the internet. Old advice was RICE. In reality you need to move. (Not medical advices.)

insane that we tolerate living in a society where you can go see one dentist and he's like "ya u have 13 cavities, will be $4000 to fix them all" then see another and he's like "that guy was full of shit and trying to scam you, you're fine" ???

The Crusades were not random wars of aggression. The Crusades were the Eastern Christian response to centuries of Islamic conquest. They were primarily defensive wars. In early Christianity there were five centers of high authority: Rome, Alexandria, Constantine, Antioch, and Jerusalem. Each one had a Bishop and administered a large region, both politically and religiously. The origins were Apostolic and the cities were the core seats of Christian authority. Islam rose out of the Arabian Peninsula in the early 600s. Almost immediately after consolidating power in Arabia, the Muslim state launched rapid military expansion against its neighbors from 632 onward. Islam took 3 out of 5 of the Patriarchal Holy Sees (Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem) in the 7th century. The Crusades were the Eastern counteroffensive. The Muslims had conquered the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) and were in Tours, France by 732. It took over 700 years for the Spaniards to expel the invaders. The Reconquista was a parallel Western front. The Ottomans laid seige to central Europe for hundreds of years. They took the Balkans and Constantinople fell in 1453. Vlad Tepes of Wallachia (reimagined in modern times as the horror character Dracula) fought them off heroically for 6 years and drove them out of his principality. They laid seige on Vienna in 1529 and were expelled from Vienna 160 years later. Only Rome remained from the original Holy Sees after 1453 when Constantinople fell. Things you don't learn in school these days.

COVID did not make people insane. It just revealed who already was. It pulled back the curtain on the neighbours who reported each other for walking in the park. The colleagues who gleefully enforced every new restriction with a zeal that had nothing to do with public health. The friends who cut off people they had known for decades for asking a single question. The family members who chose compliance over love without a moment of hesitation. The authoritarian instinct was always there. The cruelty was always there. The desperate need to belong to the side with the loudest voice and the official approval, that was always there too. COVID did not create any of it. It just gave it permission. And what was revealed in those years about human nature, about the ease with which ordinary people abandon principle under social pressure, about how quickly a society will turn on its own, that is something we should be studying far more seriously than we are. Because the conditions that brought it out once can be created again. And the people who showed you who they were during that time? Believe them.

Horrifying. A Muslim toddler at a daycare in Germany tries to slit a toy sheep’s throat with a plastic knife. That’s how halal slaughter is done: the animal’s throat is cut and it bleeds to death. What kind of culture teaches young children to do this?!

The aftermath of today’s gold medal win by the US hockey team is one of the greatest TV moments that you will ever see. Hockey is an ultimate team sport. There is no way a single person can accomplish anything in hockey. It is all about the team. And at the Olympics the team is the whole country. These are out there because they love the sport, and because they love their country. There is a purity in that that is hard to find in professional sports. Canada was REALLY good. And the game was oh so close. But somehow team USA won. If you weren’t crying already, Jack Hughes’ interview where he talks about how strong the USA hockey brotherhood is, how much he loves his country and how this win is for the whole country surely did it. If not that, surely the Star Spangled Banner and the whole team singing along to it got you over the hump. And if you still weren’t crying after that, then SURELY the team picture featuring two teammates skating onto the ice with the tiny children of Johnny Gaudreau (who likely would have been on the team had he not been killed by a car while cycling in 2024) did the trick. Friends, this is as good as it gets. Every human virtue was on display in brilliant fashion here. Dedication, hard work, toughness, teamwork, loyalty, love, tenderness, and grace. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

The Alysa Liu as hero vs. Eileen Gu as anti-hero arc continues to play out. She skated with such lightness and joy, taking the Olympic gold today - the first individual to win gold for the USA 🇺🇸 in this event in 24 years. Just look at her post-performance reaction - pure all-American exuberance bursting out like fireworks on the 4th of July. She's so bubbly and almost cartoonishly enthusiastic, beaming at the crowd as she skates around, unable to conceal her wide grin. Meanwhile, across the slopes today, Eileen Gu faced her own dramatic twist, crashing down the halfpipe after clips of her press conference demeanor went viral. In it, she laughed loudly at a reporter's question before delivering a haughty and defensive response about her record, saying "I'm most decorated female freeskier in history." It's totally fine to highlight her self-evident success but the way that came off, compared to Alysa's warm and approachable on-ice outburst, just reinforced The Tale of Two Athletes. Eileen raked in $6.6 million from the Chinese government to ski for Team China, and her brand endorsements pull in upwards of $20 million in off-ice income. Alysa on the other hand didn't take the China deal, and had to endure being targeted by Chinese spies all because of her father who is a Chinese political refugee. I hope American companies are paying attention: patriotism is a brand in itself, one that deserves to be profitable too. Alysa is genuine and inspirational and her story is also one about grit and grace and sticking to ones' principles. What a great American hero. Congratulations Alysa Liu, American Patriot 🫡
