Thanks, sir. I can honestly say this was a harder decision than when I sold my software company 10 years ago. The direction so many people are taking is a very dangerous path and I just can’t support it. But it’s still my passion so the folks in InCite won’t be able to escape it entirely. Haha

@bradmessner BRAD! So sad to lose Financial Guardians (especially now) but you are a brilliant guy and I know whatever you do next will be even bigger, better and more fulfilling.

I guess I'm just sitting here asking why. This would handle Federal, but what about states, or even ptet? This would de-couple the tax software from the version of truth of the current state of the return. PTE extensions, at least to me, are quick and simple. There are much more universally beneficial things I would rather see the IRS work on.

Hey @shl I have an idea that I think all tax professionals would get behind. An @IRStaxpros website / portal that allows us to extend all of our P'Ship and S-Corp clients with a click of a button as its just informational. No need to eFile or paper file. No Rejects #TaxTwitter

Shocking revelation for this Friday. Just because somebody says they know something doesn't mean they actually do.

Oh absolutely. The entire process needs to be taken into account. But for the amount we paid in fees last year, we could’ve hired a full-time admin year-round, making 2-3x what minimum wage is. Not the idea of perfect set up in any direction, but we still favor checks in cash. I will also say that the majority of our client base is still very very local.

@bradmessner Got to remember the hours you should be saving in those payments being automatically deposited vs bank runs and recs!

Is it weird that a prospect asked if they could pay me via check? I offer ACH and credit card. Or should I just shut up and take the money? I don’t have any clients that pay via check.

Why are accountants targeted so hard when it comes to AI replacing us? 😭
Ripping Whale@zacurate

@LoganGrafTax $50 says you're an accountant praying to whatever God you worship that AI can't replace accountants. Bad news if so, it will replace accountants.

@cordes_tax It is mostly functional, but definitely not pretty. They need to hire a team of Gen Z interns and pump them fuel of Mountain Dew for a few weeks to get that interface up to par.

I don't think I hate Xero. I just think I only get in it once a year for 2 clients. So, I shouldn't say I hate it. Right?

We do currently run an in/house AI system. It avoids security issues, disclosure requirements, and a lot of other issues. We have been doing it for almost two years. Works very well and our employees love it. We have been dabbling with making it available for our clients but that creates a bunch of concerns over data access and properly configuring our firewall. That is a project for this summer. Feel free to ask anything or message for more sensitive questions. But it has been working really well.

Anyone on #taxtwitter set up a private server for AI usage that their clients can access? Worried about clients putting tax info into AI in an unsecure environment, would rather provide a secure environment for that.

Cybersecurity education has never been easier or more accessible. Harvard has a history of providing free, entry-level courses and topics designed to bring higher education to the masses. And they succeed. This is a great intro topic on cybersecurity. Sure, it’s 7 hours, so throw it on your watch later list, but it's a great resource, especially if you are listed as the qualified individual at your firm. youtube.com/watch?v=9HOpan…
