I lost my mom in 2023, and we were later notified that some of her benefits were ready. I had to travel home because even my dad thought I was the next of kin.
Funny enough, it turned out she had listed my dad as her next of kin. That night, I was on the phone with my big mummy, and I told her I wasn’t even the next of kin, it was my dad.
She said, “Ruth ni iya re 😂😂😂(Ruth, a b'oba ku).” We just laughed together.
