Are ya ready? The 5 editions already struggle to get along. What do you think this new edition will do to people? Will #onednd fix all the problems in the system and unite the community? Have you already moved on? #dnd #dnd5e #ttrpgcommunity #ttrpg

@qstor2 D&D can be like band rehearsal to a lot of people. If you don't show up, you're out. There are other games out there where attendance isn't so hardcore. That sounds like it would work best for you.

The Dungeons & Dragons team is filled with some of the kindest, most creative, open and heartfelt people I have known in my life.

@Death_Bow To this day, I still can't eat those cup of noodles because I ODed on it when I was really poor in my 20s.

@Death_Bow Yup. I slept on a mattress on the floor in a house I rented with 4 other people, because I didn't want to live with my parents. Love my parents, but I wanted my freedom.

@feliciaday 'Spookiness' is not something to be played with... especially for children. It can open doors you don't want opened and lead to evil thoughts, words, and actions.

Any "spooky" board game suggestions for kids? My 5 year old and I played Betrayal at House on the Hill (just the room discovery part, not the part where everyone turns on each other and tries to murder each other lol) and she wants more "spooky" board games like that. TY!

@feliciaday Forbidden Island isn't necessarily spooky but it's coop and fun. My kids loved it.

@RangerSierra11 I was always wary of buying e-versions, plus I just prefer in-person games. I agree with you, though. I won’t be buying One D&D@books, and it looks like my regular game will be switching systems as soon as we’re done with the current campaign.

There’s a truth to all this goings on, and it’s that my gaming group (made up of middle aged dads) will not: 1. Reinvest $ in a new game 2. Reinvest time to learn a new game In some ways, I think many groups will find themselves tied to an ecosystem simply because of time/$

I wouldn't be surprised if @Wizards_DnD is cutting deals with big creators to keep them promoting #DnD. Even if Wizards comes out tomorrow and says they're sticking with original OGL, we know the direction they want to go in: more monetization and microtransactions.

@marcgarlasco @kierstonator @Wizards_DnD When Gygax lost control of TSR and it was taken over by the Blumes and then sold to Lorraine Williams, it got really bad. I credit @feliciaday for reviving it by getting Critical Role on her @GeekandSundry platform. But, alas, what goes up, must come down. It's the capitalist way

@mattcolville I watched D&D rise in 80s, then fall in 90s, and rise again in the past few years. Difference today is that there is so much more competition with other good gaming systems. New corporate heads don't get what made the game popular, so it's not surprising they'll strangle it.

Things were not always thus. Going to conventions in the 90s, D&D was pretty unpopular. I have personally experienced a broad ecology of publishers and players where D&D was considered a thing of the past. And that era seemed a lot more dynamic and fun to me.

@ashleymaywrites If you read Michael Witwer's bio of Gygax, this same sort of thing happened with TSR when it was taken over by corporate folks.

I really like the new Willow show. It’s flawed, it’s goofy, it’s funny and it’s fun.

@meagankenrekt I got interested in Buddhism, cause I have a stressful job. I learned about mindfulness and meditation that helped me to stop worrying about what I forgot to do yesterday and what I need to do tomorrow. Kabat-Zin's book Wherever You Go, There You Are book's a great place to start
