Argentina’s claim to the Falkland’s is no less imperialist than Russia’s claim to Ukraine. Both claims are based on ‘territorial integrity’ but they are trumped by the inhabitants right to self determination. The islanders have no wish to be ruled by Argentina.

I think we undervalue the idea that whatever Argentina’s weak moral and legal claim to the islands two hundred years after the fact, it forfeited any claim when it used unlawful force to try to take them.

A history lesson about Las Malvinas for all the trolls: Britain first occupied the islands in 1765 but were kicked out by the Spanish a few years later. Then in 1833 it took the islands by military force from Argentina which had inherited Spain’s claim after independence a few decades earlier and had established authority on the islands. Given their geographical proximity to Argentina this was not surprising. How do you think Britain would feel if a foreign nation 8,000 miles away took the Isle of Wight by military force and established settlers on it? Britain argues that the settlers it established on Las Malvinas want to stay British. But frankly why should their opinion count when they are living on occupied land? The honourable thing to do would be to just give the islands back to the Argentinians. But I really can't remember the last time Britain did the honourable thing.

Mañana España 🇪🇸 se juega reivindicarse como " grande " en un Mundial de fútbol.
Lo hace, sumando en los últimos 40 años los mismos Mundiales que Argentina 🇦🇷, uno. Es cierto ellos en total suman 3 estrellas y nosotros una.
Argentina suma en ese periodo 4 entorchados sudamericanos, y nosotros 3.
Y en JJOO el palmarés total es España 2 oros, 3 platas y ellos 2 oros y 2 platas.
Para ellos hemos pasado de ser la nada, a ser la nada antes de 2010.

UEFA HAVE JUST EXPOSED THE WHOLE FARCE
UEFA have now clarified that VAR is not permitted to intervene simply because the referee booked the wrong player.
That means the Embolo incident in Switzerland vs Argentina should never have been handled the way it was.
The damage is already done, though. Argentina benefited from an intervention that UEFA’s own interpretation now says should not happen.
Call it an “error” if you like. When every major mistake keeps favouring the same team, people are entitled to call it something else.

This was a completely normal World Cup semifinal. You see games like this every season in the Champions League knockout rounds. The referee had a solid game, and there wasn't a single game-defining decision in Argentina's favor that wasn't supported by the Laws of the Game.
The real problem is the discourse. Ever since this World Cup started, every decision involving Argentina has been turned into a conspiracy by people who simply don't want the rules applied when they benefit a team they dislike.
Meanwhile, England's goal against Norway, where many argued the ball hit an overhead cable, and Ghana's strong penalty appeal against England barely sparked any outrage. Yet every 50/50 call involving Argentina becomes a global scandal.
You don't have to like Argentina. Just apply the same standards to every team.

Guys and gals it’s not hard. Remote deserted island where no one ever lived. Various colocnial powers put in outposts and was finally settled by the British. Only British people have ever lived there. They voted to stay British. The argentines have the same claim as say the Chileans who are nearly as close.
