most web3 games aren't games. they're spreadsheets with skins. i'm designing one that isn't. here's what i believe, what i'm building, and why behavior > incentives is the only rule extraction gamefi survives on. 🧵

I want to speak to YOU. Are you a founder looking for some feedback? A Creator that wants to exchange some ideas, then let's talk! Started booking more calls with founders & creators, already got a couple of calls lined up this week. But, I'm still looking to connect with more, if you want to jump on one drop a comment!

@cryptoabby17 no offense, but every game that became an esport first had a massive player base. if you start by building around “esports” as the selling point, isn’t that putting the cart before the horse?

Web3 gaming still has ONE massive opportunity left. And it’s eSports. If you truly want to onboard people outside the Web3 bubble… You need to give them more than: • token rewards • farming loops • speculative hype Give them: • competition • identity • social recognition • skill progression • a reason to grind That’s what esports does. People don’t dedicate thousands of hours to games only for rewards. They stay because: • they want to improve • they want to compete • they want recognition • they want to belong somewhere That’s how real gaming ecosystems are built. And honestly… The Web3 games that successfully build esports culture around their games… will dominate the next cycle. Come back to this tweet in a few years!

@SylenCasts i think the difference comes down to whether they forget the most basic truth: games are meant to be played.

@MagicCraftGame i get what you mean: the game has to be fun first. the economy layer comes after that.

The reason Web3 gaming took off was not complicated. Players already spend years building value inside worlds: items, skins, characters, guilds, reputation, and identity. The idea that some of that should be owned by the player made immediate sense. The concept was strong. The execution often forgot the game.

@KissItAndWink that cost sounds pretty reasonable thanks for the answer. i think i finally get what people enjoy about this type of game

@bravebitgg I did stop buying the battle pass in WuWa recently, but only because I’m 2 characters away from having my 3 premium best-in-slot teams. I still buy the monthly sub tho, which is only $5

web3 gaming still has a content problem. not because we need more posts saying “web3 games are inevitable.” we need more new games, more serious breakdowns, and more arguments that actually hold up. i don’t mind promotional content but too often, the thesis is weaker than the ad.

@bravebitgg But that’s the thing about these games. What keeps you around is the characters themselves. Their lore. Seeing what happens to them. Exploring the world with them. Experiencing the story with them. Meeting new characters. Seeing how they fit into the narrative. It’s everything

@Cyber_ImpPlant i think the market will naturally adjust for this. you can already see it when the replies under paid tweets are full of fake engagement from engagement groups. the audience that’s already tired of it won’t keep acting along with them in this farce.

@bravebitgg We definitely don't need any more "web3 games are inevitable" posts. They are disgenuine and farm an engagement. And if we don't change content creators promoting bs like they always did through all years, dunno how CT can be better.

@KissItAndWink i’m a bit different. if i play a game like that, i’ll spend money to get every character i can — full collection mode. then once i get bored and stop caring about future characters, i’ll either ignore the game completely or just uninstall it.

@bravebitgg Yes, I try to be as focused and goal oriented as possible. It’s easy to feel FOMO from these types of games, but the thing to remember is that they’re marathons, not sprints. As long as you can delay gratification, you can enjoy hundreds of hours of content with minimal spending

@bravebitgg Yes! In pre alpha now, a new release coming very very soon which has 100 quests, over 300 craftable items, and the new apartment builder system! Check it out @InfinityRisingX if you have any questions let me know, or ask in the discord. The community is extremely helpful

web3 games are still too rare, so between building my own game, i’m thinking about starting a simple review series on web2 indie games — partly to cover more content, and partly to explore what they might look like as web3 games.

@bravebitgg And that’s the cool thing about these games, you can play them however you like! You just want to collect waifus and husbandos? You can! You just want to chill and do the story content? You can! How much you spend is completely up to you. It’s not required at all

@KissItAndWink i’m not familiar with those details, since i’m not the target audience for this type of game but if you don’t spend much money, then you probably have to spend a lot of time instead i guess

@bravebitgg I only get the monthly sub and the battle pass (roughly $15 a month). This allows me to pull pretty much every character I want and their weapon (but no duplicates). Like I said, sometimes I do skip banners, but it’s usually because I want another character more

Been a while since my last video sooo… here we go again! 😄 While waiting for the next #Builder update in @InfinityRisingX , stitched together some gameplay moments💁‍♂️✨ Truth is… you can’t really escape what you love doing. Mixing gameplay with music, blending scenes, creating vibes - still loving every second of it 🤓🎶 And no, I didn’t disappear 😅 Just took a little break from editing - bills don’t pay themselves! But keep calm - I’m here, still gaming, still creating. Music: "Deep house vibes - Im moving to the sun"🔥 #InfinityRising #Gameplay #VideoEditing #GamingCommunity #Web3Gaming #Game #Vibes #EditingForFun #Creator #GamingVideos

@bravebitgg So for me, it’s more like I’m assembling and building soldiers for the games’ hardest combat challenges. I want to get all the available rewards b/c ultimately, more rewards means more characters. But I certainly do have an emotional attachment to some characters as well

@KissItAndWink then you’re playing it a bit more deeply than he is my friend mostly cares about the OC’s aesthetics and strength — he doesn’t really care about anything else

@bravebitgg I mostly care about things like combat kit and team synergy when pulling for characters and their weapons. Things like personality, aesthetic, voice acting, and their place in the overarching narrative are also important, but they’re not deal breakers.

then you must have spent quite a lot of money. characters in these games aren’t that easy to get — even though some of them have a pity system. i’ve stood next to my friend and watched them play a few times. some parts of the combat are made with really polished animations and real-time rendering. that’s not something an ordinary studio can pull off.

@bravebitgg I currently play 3 open world gacha games. I started Wuthering Waves in December (518 hours). Arknights: Endfield was released in late January (600 hours). Neverness to Everness came out end of April (120 hours). In these types of games (and most other games) combat is #1 for me
