@_MiIitia_ Thank you - appreciate it! I swerved from the 500W and managed to find a couple of bigger generators still available for hire but they've managed to get sorted from another avenue. Good result and now I know about generators :)

Anyone know about generators? Organising supplies for friends in Napier. I can borrow an old Yamaha ET500 [50:1 gasoline to oil 220 volts/ 50 hz]. Will this run fridge, stove, laptops etc? Or am I best to buy a new one? I can source a Stihl EG5500CX #CycloneGabrielle 🙏

@brdgtbl It depends on Watt out put of gen. Check this first. Then check fridge, if fridge is say 100 watts & gen is more then ok. Gens produce power on *demand*, go for the one with highest Watt output. The 220V 50/60Hz is standard. Some also have 12V DC good for charging devices..👍

@martinkrafft @nashthomas So I think demand is there, both from the domestic travel market & from tourists. I used to use the sleeper train in the UK for travel between London & Scotland and it was usually full, plus they've just invested in a major refurbishment - so it's clearly profitable

Fixing our buses is the priority. We also need to think to the future. As well as mass transit, I’d like Wellington & Auckland’s regional leaders to work with Kiwirail on a sleeper train linking our two cities. If you have ideas on how to get this service going let’s talk.
