Weird thing happens if you actually engage with incels is you inevitably hit a point where they are like “oh so you think I should just accept the fact I can’t date a supermodel and be happy about it?” And the obvious answer is… yes?

People assume that China is homophobic because they read news about China cracking down on LGBT+ orgs. What those articles leave out is how the West frequently uses these NGOs as fronts for covert activities and propaganda operations. China isn't anti-queer, it's pro-sovereignty.

@clemferguson The term tends to refer to the rejection of liberal democratcy and political plurality, not just any forceful or repressive action by a government. This necessarily implies that liberal democracy is good, hence why its accepted by liberals and rejected by many communists.

I need you to understand something my American friends. Nobody has a clue who you are talking about when you say "the left". People in the rest of the world constantly ask me who that is. The Democrats? Progressives? Liberals? The DSA? Communists? Anti-genocide Americans?

Idk why the "liberals always side with fascists" line got so popular, it's demonstrably false even if you look at the spanish civil war which happened only a couple years after the weimar stuff they tend to bring up a lot. That also should not be our critique of liberals!

@dobrist88 @FCHPolitics @chimeraxmachina The Soviet Union incorporated the same territories and ethnicities as the Russian Empire. But somehow it is no longer an empire despite having a metropole and peripheral territories containing over a hundred different ethnicities because the economic system is different.

@manfromdelaware @chimeraxmachina "the policy, practice, or advocacy of extending the power and dominion of a nation especially by direct territorial acquisitions or by gaining indirect control over the political or economic life of other areas" means that every single country is imperial. This is incoherent

@chimeraxmachina Imperialism is territorial, economic, and/or cultural expansion of a country with the intended goal or effect of ending the sovereignty and Independence of other countries and incorporating them into a formal or informal empire.

@chimeraxmachina Not a coincidence that Lenin uses a definition that makes the USSR retaining of the territories of the Russian Empire not imperialistic.

@chimeraxmachina It's an ideologically convenient definition that makes imperialism inseparable from capitalism, automatically waving away any potentially imperialistic (under the standard definition) actions by non-capitalist actors.
