Game: Valorant AC: Vanguard (VGK) Today’s Vanguard anti-cheat update blocked the majority of DMA firmwares using SATA/NVMe. VGK suddenly triggered an IOMMU restart warning in-game, after which the DMA firmware becomes completely unusable, even without the game running or after uninstalling Vanguard. Only fix is a full OS reinstall. It’s using IOMMU to create read blocks, which permanently breaks the majority of almost all SATA/NVMe firmwares once triggered. Even the advanced H2-board got affected. Confirmed Firmware Block wave by @ItsGamerDoc

@Lord_RFirgens @SaltyPretzel18 @riotgames The point of cheating is, they get off on screwing people over and getting away with it. It's kind of like gacha. "I win!" Really, they're subhuman and I hate them, but kernel-level system bricking is a dangerous precedent for the future. Anyone should be able to see this.

@SaltyPretzel18 @breg_grady @riotgames I keep saying companies should develop separate servers for cheaters and legit players. Would solve so many problems it would destroy the anti cheat industry so that’s why it doesn’t happen. Money to be made cheating.

@breg_grady @Lord_RFirgens @riotgames If what you are doing directly negatively impacts the experience of others, sure why not. If I could flip a switch and never queue up against cheaters then I wouldn't care. But I can't, so if companies brick their hardware I'll celebrate that.

Do you think it's okay to ruin people's property (which is not cheap, esp now) for online behaviors that are not in violation of law? Like for example saying something unkind online? Like wishing death on a group of people?

Yeah it might be a bridge too far frying their PC. I just don’t feel bad for them. But for real cheating causes more damage than people realize. People will stop playing games that don’t address cheating. I put cheating as the same level of offense as hacking. It’s hard not for me to deference the two. Hackers literally broke Titanfall 2. A multi million dollar game up in smoke because of hacking cheaters. Whether you’re a fan of the game or not, that isn’t right. This stuff is serious and not just kids goofing around. It spilling over and bringing the ban hammer down on all cheaters is music to my ears.

@Lord_RFirgens @riotgames I love video games. And I’m awful at them. I’ve been destroyed in FPS games by cheaters and people I thought were cheating hundreds of times. I never wanted their computer destroyed. Have you seen the prices of stuff right now? Insane that anyone would say stuff like this.

Kyle and I had a really challenging existence for many years. But we luckily took the time to figure out our differences and that was something he instigated with a conversation in his bus around how we each managed our racing teams. I was super eager for us to get on better terms. But it was he who made the effort for that to be possible. We did some media together also to laugh through some of the things we put each other through many years ago. Most recently we had even been discussing him running my Late Model at Wilkesboro this summer. He seemed extremely happy and we had planned to meet up next Thursday to get his seat to the shop. He laughed over the idea of his fans and JRM fans having to cheer in unison during that race. Kyle was one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. No one can deny that. But he was also a father, a husband, brother, son, and a friend to many. My heart is broken for the Busch family. I will never be able to make sense of this loss but I am thankful that we had found a way to become friends.

“I effing killed him” — Gay man charged with murder of baby boy he adopted. The baby’s cause of death was acute upper airways obstruction, as a result of smothering by hand, fabric, or inserted object. The child had suffered 40 injuries including external and internal bruising, and a fractured arm. Detective found videos on Varley’s phone, recorded earlier that day, with the boy lying on the bed with respiratory arrest but the defendant did not seek medical help. Varley is charged with: murder, manslaughter, two counts of assault by penetration, five counts of cruelty to a child, grievous bodily harm, sexual assault of a child, 13 counts of taking indecent photos or videos of a child, one of distributing an indecent photo of a child. A month before the child’s death, Varley told a social worker he wasn’t “bonding” with the child and was having “dark thoughts” about him, including thoughts of drowning or suffocating the baby. He said he would never act on them.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ They let him keep the baby anyway.
