Absolutely spot on by @suzanne_moore, who eviscerates two men whose classism has never been more in evidence than on this issue. Why listen to Keira Bell, Sandie Peggie or the Darlington nurses when women inside your hyper-privileged bubble agree with you? telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/04/2…

The Islamic Republic is the #1 threat to Middle East peace. It uses whatever territory it can take over as a launchpad for attacks on its neighbors. As may as 500 drone attacks on Saudi Arabia came from the IRGC’s proxy armies in IRAQ!

So, dear Pope, quick question: You’ve got these guys in Iran who say they’re doing God’s work… by hanging protesters at sunrise and beating women into forced confessions. Apparently, that’s what “holy” looks like now. And I’m just wondering, when people get executed for asking for freedom, does that qualify as a “massacre,” or are we still workshopping the language? Because from the outside, it looks like religion being used as a cover for straight-up brutality. And when the people who actually claim to speak for God stay quiet… it kinda sounds like God’s on mute. So, are you going to say something about it, or is this one of those moments where silence is the safest prayer? #StopExecutionsInIran

It's kind of wild the US gives Lebanon $230 million in annual security aid so it can disarm Hezbollah, and the Lebanese Armed Forces did... what exactly with US taxpayer dollars?
Senator Roger Wicker@SenatorWicker

Hezbollah’s killing of a French service member in southern Lebanon, only days after Israel agreed to a ceasefire, is a critical test for the Lebanese Armed Forces. Congress should not support the LAF unless it acts to disarm Hezbollah completely — and immediately.

Today, right after the call of “Allahu Akbar” at dawn, the regime in Iran, placed a noose around this young man’s neck and kicked the chair from under his feet, so he would struggle, suffocate, and die. Yes this is happening in 21st century. They executed him because he went to protest with empty hands and said he wanted freedom. His name is Amirali Mirjafari. He was only 22 years old. They called him a “leader” of the protests. But they never said when he was arrested, how he was tortured, or how he was tried. Because everything was done in silence, a silence enforced by threats against his family. They imprisoned him in silence. They tortured him in silence. They tried him in silence. And they executed him in silence. Dozens of protesters have been executed the same way. Yet many political leaders in the West, who suddenly worry about “international law”, after a military strike against Ali Khamenei and members of IRGC have not said a single word about these barbaric killings. Why? Why is there silence when young civilians are hanged for demanding freedom?

Day 53 of internet blackout in Iran. Disgraceful that they still talk about making a deal with what’s left of these monsters. The message from the people inside Iran currently cut off from having a voice: ❌ NO DEAL WITH THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC
NetBlocks@netblocks

📵 The #Iran internet blackout is now in its 53rd day after 1248 hours of disconnection from global networks. As authorities work to develop tiered access for select users and businesses, the human impacts and economic harms of this digital censorship measure continue to spiral.

Few patients appeal a health insurance denial, but a little-known process that requires insurers and plans to seek an independent opinion can force insurers to pay for what can be lifesaving treatment. Here’s what experts say you need to know. propublica.org/article/health…

A must-read this Monday. A society that offers death instead of justice betrays those it is meant to protect. In this essay for @RestoringWest, @daisymaeinglese shows how Noelia Castillo’s case exposes a deeper moral collapse: when suffering is met not with justice, healing, and care—but with death—we have failed the vulnerable.
Restoring the West@RestoringWest

A society that offers death to victims instead of justice has abandoned the vulnerable when they most need protection. In this essay for @RestoringWest, @daisymaeinglese argues that Noelia Castillo’s case reveals a profound moral failure: suffering was answered with death instead of justice, healing, and care. Male athlete Devrett "Devi" Gupta has been quietly stealing women's awards and prize money in snowboarding events. Gupta appears to have been absent at the Uninvited Invitational that occurred a week ago, but he certainly is no stranger to the event. The Uninvited Invitational was launched in 2017 by snowboarder Jess Kimura to give female snowboarders a chance to shine in a sport where they are often overlooked and overrun by men. It is supposed to be a woman-only competition for the best female snowboarders around.

Women in Gaza told reporters they were sexually exploited by Hamas in exchange for food and aid. The testimonies are horrifying, and the silence around them is telling. When allegations target Israel, they spread fast. When reporting implicates Hamas, major outlets suddenly lose interest. That is not just a media failure. It is a moral one. honestreporting.com/the-story-no-o…
