@david_dossett Happy for you!! For us, I have found 3-4 (hopefully not to 5!) to be the hardest. A lot of attitude going on over here right now 😅🫠

My youngest turned 2 today. Feels like we've survived the hardest years. Until they are teenagers 😅

@disco_lu Yep, the opposite! So kinda like that but instead of selecting a *variable* (shown there), you'd select a *component/set* and can view any variables applied to it and its nested layers (width, appearance, etc.) This is better than nothing though, so ty!

I'm tinkering away on a new Figma widget for design system auditing ⚙️ It scans your document and tells you: – Number of components – Components without descriptions / doc links – Components without variables / styles – Instances with overrides Hopefully published next week!

@ilyamiskov @figma Yes! I've been waiting for this forever. Feels like it's mostly been an issue for those working in huge companies that have many smaller individual teams, which maybe isn't a lot of their user base?

Hey @figma please add the ability to add folders within projects. Ideally with the ability to nest folders within folders too. Thanks!

@nlevin @figma This is motivating. I am someone who tends to not share as for some reason it feels too “please validate me/my work”, but this is a great angle I hadn’t considered much 🤍

@pwnies It’s been happening a lot to me lately and I haven’t been able to figure out why but maybe you’re onto something

Anyone else just generate massive amounts of static electricity as soon as it’s mildly dry out? Every door handle I touch I get zapped. Worst superpower.

@brian_lovin It’s funny how used to the originals I was that I hadn’t even realized they could be updated.

@charlesriccardi +1. I always thought the best way to replicate any physical thing in UI would be to just stress-test the hell out of it under different lighting conditions. Document how it reacts and then try to mirror it with software. I could TOTALLY see em just doing this for the vid tho lol

I just want people to tell me more about these. Were they created just for the video, did they really use them for research? What was the process like for getting all these created? When can I play with them?

.@figma design ask: “save file as new file template” there are just some things our team could use every time when starting a new file.

@disco_lu oh awesome! does it by chance work with migrating variable collections from library to library and maintaining the links? i know it says CSS but it import and exports, it makes me wonder if that’s a workaround you could do to migrate between files. might not keep links tho…

I've updated the CSS variables Figma plugin! Noooow, you can export AND import CSS variables. Copy, paste, or upload a CSS file, and it will generate your variables including aliasing ◇ Hopefully makes variable migration a lot easier figma.com/community/plug…

@pwnies @buninux Also, I’m completely aware this is more of an edge case for Figma to need to explore this. I’d imagine most of its tenants, even at the Enterprise level, are not huge companies like Microsoft, with many separate products and Figma libraries, and thus variants.

@pwnies @buninux This is perfect timing to find your perspective here, Jacob, as I’m dealing with this very scenario right now and have also been doing this parametric approach. Do hope Figma is able to tackle this at some point because I agree with all of your UX points.

I've discovered the new best way to build components in Figma. Let's call it Parametric Components. This method reduced the number of variants in my DS by 80%, resulting in a faster workflow and file performance. Let me break it down ↓
