Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a handy side-by-side comparison chart that showed you all the #cerealherbicide options and the weeds they control? We thought so!

I would be interesting to see if there's any difference in tiller numbers between 7.5" drilled wheat and the twin row 30" wheat. Both planted with a day or two at about 180k population
@Aaron_Bowman_@woody_VA@Aaron_Bowman_@woody_VA there is a WW variety trial being done now at ERS looking at this in twin row 15”. My MSc work on twin row with RC suggests that more light=less variability in biomass which=more predictable N-credits, but no increase in plants/area.
As part of our #FoodFromThought research we are looking at the potential of twin-row wheat as a management strategic for more uniform frost seeded red clover stands. Wow are there some differences in canopy architecture showing up.... both are twin rows...
The red clover plot from the twin row (right pic) is stunning compared to conventional row spacing (left pic) Can’t wait to see the numbers... @bretthilker@UofG_FfT
@maize_canada@bretthilker@UofG_FfT When was the wheat seeded? Late seeded wheat 2018 had intercrop soybeans. Early seeded nothing. All late seeded 2019, soybeans are a crop.
@ihboy86@maize_canada@thewheatteam@UofG_FfT Results on nitrogen differences are spotty but I found some old literature that outlines it fairly well. Common and Ottawa RC is DC and Norlac RC is SC...
variable red clover stands in winter wheat are one reason farmers are walking away from this cover crop option. A @UofG_FfT project may have made a breakthrough... twin-row wheat, with no loss in yield, but huge gains in single-cut red clover establishment
@ihboy86@maize_canada@thewheatteam@UofG_FfT I came across of couple of things. In the seeding year, SC produces lower top growth DM yield but higher root yield at fall termination vs. DC. Literature points to no difference in DM between varieties but differences in where the DM is allocated
Fantastic catch of clovers in my Waterloo location. Twin-row planted winter wheat providing extra light for clover establishment while promoting tillering on wheat. The non shade tolerant Alsike clover has responded well. Yield results soon to come #ontag
