This is not my most popular opinion but I believe that the legalization of marijuana led to a permissive structure around drug use that enabled Trudeau to let B.C Premier David Eby legalize possession of 2.5 grams of opioids, cocaine, methamphetamine, and MDMA.

For 50 years, software engineering ran on code rationing. Writing code was expensive, so we rationed it carefully through roadmaps, RFCs, prioritization meetings, and scope reviews. This created a role: the No Engineer. No, that won't scale. No, we don't have bandwidth. No, that's out of scope. No, we need a design doc first. The No Engineer was valuable for 50 years. Every "no" saved real money. Their judgment was the rationing system. LLMs will be the end of code rationing. Code is cheap now. And while the No Engineer is explaining why something can't be done, the Yes Engineer has already shipped three versions of it. If you're a Yes Engineer, the next decade is yours.

Unsolicited advice is the worst advice, but I’ll offer this to separatists anyway: @planetjanetyyc's poll is, within its disclosed margin of error, accurate. It broadly aligns with other polls. This isn’t a conspiracy—by nationalists or the @CBC. If it doesn’t match what you’re seeing on social media, that’s because algorithms feed you what you “like,” “repost,” and who you “follow.” If all your friends agree with you, that’s not evidence of broader opinion, that is because you are choosing friends who share your outlook on life. When you sneer (swear) at and attack pollsters—and anyone who cites them—you come across like flat earthers. Janet’s poll is an accurate snapshot of opinion *at a point in time.* Instead of denying that, look at the broad data. A majority of Albertans—55 percent—believe Ottawa disadvantages Alberta. That is rich soil to try and cultivate more support. So engage: find whoever is leading this separatism effort, volunteer, and try to persuade more of that 55% that “Canada doesn’t work” and independence is the answer. And stop swearing at people who disagree—whether about the polls or what it would take to grow support beyond that 55%. I'm not going to wish you success, but I am not going to criticize you for positively participating in the process. #ableg
