WVU’s World Languages Dept was eliminated — university plans to keep a handful of faculty to teach Spanish & Chinese courses. @LMDiBartolomeo has been outspoken from the beginning of all this and from my POV has consistently pointed to how it would most of all hurt students.

We have at least 5 senior faculty who accepted early retirement. For example, Professor John Goldwasser who has several teaching awards accepted early retirement to save young faculty like me. Idk what to say, but I am definitely not cheerful about this situation :( So very sad.

@AriHunter_ When I get the chance, I try new ideas that could become a grad student’s project. I don’t go further than a few test reactions so that the project will still be theirs if/when I give it to a student. It reassures me that the student won’t spend years working with no success.
