Astonishingly, there are no receipts presented. 🤣

I dare a MAGA supporter to find me a gas station under 2 bucks a gallon. Proof with a dated receipt, please.

@timothylord @cheapaudioman @AudiophiliacMan Is there a Google Doc version of it where I can comment on it? :)
English

Most recent version of something I occasionally revise: a small intro / guide for people considering buying or setting up stereo equipment. Readers of @cheapaudioman and @AudiophiliacMan may have friends to whom it would be useful. Always a work in progress; suggestions welcome.

@timothylord @graeme_cobb It sounds like what you want is a fuel cell; it is a shame that the patent costs associated with filling up with hydrogen make lithium batteries the "affordable" solution.
English

@graeme_cobb Even if it's a separate bank of batteries with limited range, not part of the "regular" battery layout of the car. Sort of like how old VW Beetles had a small aux. gas tank. If you could pick up 100 miles with a 30-second automated swap, there are a lot of situations you might.

🚨Question Time 🚨
What are on people’s wish lists for future EVs?
I’ll start:
(1) LFP or LFMP batteries as standard across the board. Start every day at 100% state of charge (not that it’s needed, but people like a full tank).
(2) Vehicle to Grid/X - bidirectional charging with inbuilt bidding software so you can sell excess stored energy at peak times whilst the car is on a charger anywhere.
Or run your home from your car during peak hours using stored off-peak energy.
(3) Built in Starlink connectivity so you’re always connected with super fast broadband wherever you are. No more patchy networks.
(4) App Store for:
- 4a. your favourite charging apps like @OctopusElectro for charger directions plus plug-in walk-away charging. Let Octopus do the handshake from within the car 🙏
- 4b. Whatever apps will be helpful in your car
Anything goes so suggest away.

@RamonGainez @bcantrill @mjasay @InfoWorld You would hope that Hashicorp might take a look at the Opentofu code, there looks to be an obvious bug in the Hashicorp implementation.
English

@bcantrill @mjasay @InfoWorld Bryan have you taken a look at the “ParseRemoveTarget” and “ParseRemoveEndpoint” functions? I don’t think you can argue in good faith that they are clean room impls. If you’re going to fight the Good Fight about licensing you gotta be beyond reproach when copying features
English

This is an extraordinarily serious accusation -- and the cited files frankly don't substantiate it. @mjasay, I know you have a JD, but perhaps it's time that some actual lawyers at @InfoWorld refresh your understanding of libel?
Matt Asay@mjasay
Well that's awkward. 😳 OpenTofu seems to have misappropriated @HashiCorp's IP by using Hashi's removed block code, removing the BSL license notice and replacing it with MPL. Folks, that's not how open source (or forking) works. infoworld.com/article/371498…

“It's ridiculous for board members to say that we are being ‘tokenized,’” a black HCC parent told me. “We have brains. We have minds of our own. We are not being used by anyone."

Seattle Public Schools is eliminating its gifted programs
The message to high-achieving kids is clear: “Your learning needs don’t matter. You don’t belong here, go somewhere else.”
As always, the ultimate victims will be high-achieving kids from low-income families, stuck in a system that doesn’t value excellence

@dmarti I am sure we both hold a similar skepticism of "click for consent", but even if that threshold was achieved? I do not see how Amazon provided consent to Facebook/Meta,... I would surprised if Amazon had some secret agreement with Meta that allowed this.
English

@brianaker that's an interesting point if this is legally wiretapping...they would need consent from both sides
(imho "consent" as found in a click to consent button isn't really consent)
