Born in Sweden to gentry (nobility), he inherited the title of “Count.” He started off in the Swedish Army, in the cavalry. He got out in order to persue a life of agriculture but was recalled and reinstated in order to take command of the first Swedish Battalion in Katanga. This timeless photo was taken immediately following an ambush on his elements in which MAJ Bonde was shot multiple times by inferior hostile weapons (mostly outdated muzzle loaders). After the firefight, one of his soldiers ran up and remarked “Sir! You are hit! Your shirt is red!” Bonde shook his head, sighed, took off his shirt, lit a smoke, and looked at him. “Don’t be impertinent. I’m a Count. My blood is blue.” The man makes the watch. “Bubba”, our first FAA Certified Seeing Eye dog taking our first blind pilot for a ride yesterday. Bubba can sniff out a thermal with amazing accuracy. All went well until Bubba saw a squirrel on final.
