Of course there is. It is not good civics for a mob of people that happen to live densely packed together in urban areas to run roughshod, by simple virtue of numbers, over the individual rights of their neighbors in rural area that happen to grow the food we all eat and frequently value different ideal, values, methodologies of living and standards that work for them. Unless of course you don’t value individual choice at all in which case the direct mob rule by force of numbers makes sense. In that case might makes right and the strong rule over the weak. Not great historically.

There's no good civic argument for the electoral college. It was arguably necessary to ensure the ratification of the Constitution, but it's an anti-democratic device that gives some American citizens far more voting power than others, based purely on where they live.

I’m probably going to regret asking this but… who are the gaggle of hangers-on that always have to standing around him looking somber and serious every time he steps to a microphone as if to add gravitas to whatever it is he’s saying?
