I can’t sleep because, by June 1, I have to upload everything I’ve ever written, including my book, to a website. this dossier will go out to four Shakespeare scholars across the nation to review—& they will recommend if I should get tenure or not. these files, plus my teaching materials, will then be reviewed by my department, a faculty-wide committee, my dean, my provost, & the board of visitors. at each step, a decision is made. I have two weeks to get this file ready. if I don’t get tenure I’m fired.
