I feel like I shouldn't social ever, whenever I do I get people-fatigue. There are rare and few people who give more than they take and I enjoy being with them. Unfortunately most are black holes. I will.make my own nation, this was always the plan, just me and Rooftop Kitten, but you're all welcome to visit for a while.

@AscendedYield …at almost any cost. it was hard to differentiate worthwhile investment from british-leyland-type money pits. poll tax was a mistake. housing policy wasn’t great but again - only so much is possible and the major existential issue was dismantling socialist power bases

@AscendedYield given the constraints of wets she played a blinder. amazing job. in hindsight it was unfortunate to lose so much industrial capacity and throw away world leading tech eg nuclear, rail. but so much money had been thrown at industrial disasters, and unions had to be dismantled…

Thatcher made mistakes in hindsight, but ask yourself what you would have done differently had you took over in 1979. I’m genuinely interested in people’s thoughts on this.

Maybe I need to be in South America, idk. I'm happy where I am. But there's a version of me leading a cult a beautiful land somewhere. Another is breeding giant war penguins in Antarctica. Perhaps one in a cave somewhere working on a manuscript that will inspire future emperors. I can even feel a version in a mountain bunker with his finger on the button. This version is feeding a cat in West Asia.

@jeff82874662 @eigenrobot idk, it makes it cheaper to be public, and it’s supposed to be good to encourage companies to list? it’s be nice to think investors might tolerate considering the future more than 3 weeks out but i doubt it will change that

This genre of unintended consequence is fairly frequent in anti-fraud implementations, and when you tell regulators/legislators that, they say obviously it won’t happen because businesses would lose money. (I have no knowledge of this specific purchasing pathway.)

@eigenrobot i think the default for europe is it falls under russian influence. this isn’t an anti-russia or russian conspiracy statement, just a “who is nearby and still independent?” one uk is caught in the middle in an interesting way.

another thing i somewhat expect to happen as the west collapses is that many american client states, having been client states for ages and having ossified accordingly, will probably be fought over by other powers hoping to become their new suzerain

@phoneyman i thought the chinese owned the liberals and the indians owned the conservatives, is that an oversimplification?

The ETP option sellers seem to have accidentally blundered onto something sensible. $GLDE.L $GLDI.L If you wanted to be really clever you could range trade this add at the bottom trim at the top to juice it a bit more

@Kacper_PK_CH they did a significant hike to capital gains tax so a lot of people sold to pay the old low rate. revenue pulled forward from the future.
