She has had to sit with the shock of losing a job she loved. She has had to wonder what comes next. She has had to absorb the emotional fallout of seeing a place she cared about disappear and an entire work family scatter. As someone who loves her, I can tell you plainly that this has caused real pain in our home. This is not theoretical. It is not a headline. It is not a talking point. It is our life. I am asking you, sincerely, to reconsider the path that led here and the message it sends. If the goal of the justice system is to serve the public, then the public impact of this matters. If the goal is fairness, then fairness has to include the workers and families who are paying the price. If the goal is safety, then it is worth asking whether this actually made the community safer or simply more unstable. And if the goal is justice, then justice should have room for proportionality, judgment, and humanity. Please do not look at The Lodge as just a case file or an enforcement action. Look at the people now posting in grief because they lost the place they worked, the people they loved working beside, and the future they thought they were building. Look at the couples with zero income now. Look at the people asking friends for leads because their lives were thrown into chaos overnight. My girlfriend is one of them. I know people in public office are used to angry letters, but that is not what this is. This is a plea for perspective. A plea for compassion. A plea for someone in authority to acknowledge that whatever legal theory may have justified this action, the result has devastated a lot of decent people who were simply trying to work, build a life, and be part of something meaningful. I want to speak to you as a real person whose life, and whose partner’s life, has been directly affected by what has happened to The Lodge. My girlfriend worked the Lodge livestream, and she truly loved her job. It was not just a paycheck to her. It gave her purpose, a routine, pride in what she was building, and a community she cared deeply about. She loved the people, the energy, and the feeling that she was part of something special. Watching that get ripped away has been brutal. It has been heartbreaking to see someone I love lose not just work, but part of her identity and daily life. And she is not the only one. You can see it all over social media right now. Dealers, servers, staff, livestream workers, floor staff, and regular players are all saying the same thing in different words: this was more than a card room to them. It was a second home. It was a community. It was stability. It was one of the few places where people felt connected, valued, and hopeful about where their lives were heading. Now that has been shattered. I am asking you to please step back and really look at the human cost of this. This closure did not just punish some faceless business entity. It hit working people. It hit couples who both depended on this place. It hit people with rent, bills, groceries, and uncertain futures. It hit people who found friendship and belonging there. It hit people who finally felt like they had found their lane in life. Reading the posts from staff has been gutting, because the same themes keep coming up over and over again: heartbreak, fear, confusion, lost income, lost purpose, lost community. That should matter. I come from a very different world professionally. I have spent years in crypto and trading, around businesses and industries that actually do deserve scrutiny when they are dishonest or predatory. I understand that regulation exists for a reason. I understand that the law matters. I am not asking you to ignore the law. I am asking you to use judgment, discretion, and common sense about what kind of place The Lodge actually was and what this action actually accomplished. From the outside, it is very hard to look at this and believe the outcome matches the harm supposedly being prevented. The Lodge was not some shadowy backroom operation preying on the public. It was a visible, organized, community-centered place that employed a huge number of local people and gave thousands of Texans a safer and more structured place to play than the alternative. Shutting it down does not suddenly make poker disappear. It just pushes people out of a monitored environment and back into riskier, less accountable ones, while the people who did nothing wrong lose their jobs overnight. That is what makes this so hard to accept. There is also something deeply upsetting about the way this appears to so many people in the community. It feels like a technical trap was turned into a life-altering blow. It feels cold. It feels disconnected from reality. It feels like the people making these decisions do not have to look into the faces of the workers who are now wondering how they are going to get through the next month. My girlfriend does.

I miss the @LodgePokerClub live stream.. I miss my job..I miss our regulars.. and I miss playing at one of the best poker rooms in the world. This sucks.. @GregAbbott_TX
