I don’t speak on Poker much publicly here, but I do want to show my support for my friend @DougPolkVids and the unfortunate situation @LodgePokerClub is going through with the investigation via the TBAC. The lodge is a crucial part of what poker is today in Texas as well as a large component to a wide range of dealers and employees just trying to make ends meet in an establishment where they can enjoy their jobs, make new connections, and be respected as the equally important humans they are. We have seen a wide array of similar situations where card rooms are trying to operate within the scope of the law and gotten big in doing so threatened by state jurisdictions causing inequality amongst the working class as well as business owners. This is all while many card rooms operate illegally with rake, unregulated casino offerings, and other gambling setups that ARE NOT within the scope of the legal parameters given. We have card rooms running actual scams where cards are marked, where one table is running as a clear money laundering scheme, where slot machines parade the room like a glorified casino where you can only cash out $500 per day if you’re lucky enough to hit a jackpot on a scam level RTP. Yet, business owners who were successful running a poker room without the unnecessary casino offerings had cash seized and taken as part of an investigation with no charges. Anyhow, we shall see what the end result of this is, but I am a bit appalled at the Texas regulating body’s actions here unless this situation is far bigger than is currently portrayed, and if it is not, this is a set taken that is too far by governing bodies leaving a punishment toward owners trying to operate legally and employees trying to support their families and live happy, peaceful lives. I support @DougPolkVids @andrewneeme @TheBradOwen and all of The Lodge Card Club patrons and employees during this time to the highest regard I possibly can.
