@kdhrubo @Philo01 Their documentation keeps suggesting the usage of GraphQL instead of Rest for more than one year. Some functions are just available in GraphQL. API version deprecation policy is one year. It is happening not out of the blue.

@brnvrg @Philo01 REST is famous for CRUD so applying different rates possible. Anyways its a waste of engineering effort nothing more for may be couple of 1mil but ROI -ve for some years. Its a waste also for the clients having to change now. Competitors may benefit

Shopify forcing everyone to switch from REST to GraphQL is such a pain 😅 Their documentation always seems to be out-of-date, their AI assistant comes up with fields that don't exist, errors include incorrect context... A single REST call now takes dozens of GraphQL calls...

@kdhrubo @Philo01 Can be solved but their REST API is not built on top of that. Their GraphQL APIs should generate more revenue since queries and mutations have different costs for example which urges you to be in a higher tier. They limit REST APIs by the number of requests.

@brnvrg @Philo01 Underferching and overfetching problems can be solved with REST and also with JSON API. That won't bring or increase revenue 😕.

@kdhrubo @Philo01 The limit/cost calculation of the API usage is different. e.g.: in GraphQL, the cost depends on the fields you set in queries. It is not possible in REST. (They use the “cost” terminology for the API limits.)

@Philo01 For learning how is switching from rest to graphql will save infra resources 😕? Please explain.if possible. I am still unable to see any ROI rather than useless waste of engineering hours.

@tschuehly What if, you use a CDC solution like Debezium with Apache Kafka or Pulsar? It is an oversimplified solution for an ETL but these tools may be part of the pipeline.

I actually agree that rewriting an app is a bad idea, and the app getting into that condition because you don’t know how to reactor is a problem that must be fixed immediately. However, replacing an app with something much better in order to compete is another matter entirely, and it’s something you’ll have to do continuously in order to keep up. More to the point, the easiest/quickest way to build a new app, which is what your replacement effectively is, is from scratch. Salvage what you can out of the old system, but the new system is just that–a new system. Don’t rewrite; replace.

@brnvrg Az igaz, de ők sohasem kerültek szembe a szövetséggel nyilvánosan. Katinka volt az első talán, aki nyíltan kijelentette, hogy a magyar úszósport hanyatlik. És ezért kapott sok, akár politikai támadást is. És Milák bár máshogy, de szintén szembe ment a status quo-val.

@vidragabor Ez nem az alap állapot? Csak úszás akkor Cseh Laci, Gyurta és a többiek esetében is volt ilyen. Örök elégedetlenség és a kondicionálás, hogy csak akkor vagy valaki, ha olimpia bajnok vagy.
